Clif Hanger of The Freeze

Thanks to Anthony, Frank and everyone else for a great tour!

About Me

CLIF IS NOT MISSING. Boogles is investigating this cruel prank. Thank you all for your concern. THE FREEZE began in 1979 and, except for a few neurological, physiological and emotional problems temporarily putting an immediate halt on whatever we were doing at the time, we've been haunting the Punk world ever since.
Over the years we've gone through at least the 24 line-up changes that I personally remember, which really means there have probably been more than 50. How in the fuck we were able to persuade that many people to enter our musical Odditorium is both kinda sad, and WAY beyond my comprehension..... To each of those 50 plus: I apologize for any long lasting mental damage and anguish you might still have from some of those days, hours, weeks and years which I have no actual memories of. When I try to think back to "then" all I'm able to retrieve are perverse animated blips, and they're never the same ones twice. I hope all of you are still alive and and least partially functional. I'm fairly sure I am. For what it's worth, I'm finally off the hard shit and have been thoroughly medicated by some of the countries cutting edge neuro-pharmacalogical professionals for over 4 years now.
I still feel a burning hatred for almost everyone and everything in "authority". The only difference is that now, as my self-loathing runs deeper than my hatred, I don't see myself as being much of a danger to anyone other than myself. As I continue to undergo intense introspective self therapy, I also continue to uncover untreated areas in my psyche and my soul. The depth and depravity attached to what now appears to me to be a seemingly endless psychotic string, of sorts, within me will continue to demand my attention as both psychic and physical surgeons.
If there's any 'positives' amongst the multitude of 'negatives' to be found it's that, as I peel away the rancid layers within and lance, radiate, medicate or meditate my way to what is hopefully a cure, I will have also found new topics to write lyrics about. I don't know if anyone will be able to relate to the topics, actually I hope for your sake you won't, but let them stand as warning signs, red lights and detour signs which you don't ever want to ignore.
I thought I'd actually come up with a working title for our next studio release (Fall 2008, Beer City 'tentative'). I had written it down here about 6 months ago then recently decided I hated it, so ignore whatever it was I'd written before... Sorry for the confusion. Whatever it is I end up writing about will, as is the case about 90% of the time, come from personal experience....
"Write what you know"... Sure, fucking wonderful..
Clif Hanger: 2008
As The Freeze enter yet another year, we do so with what's quickly becoming our strongest line-up yet! In 1999 after Bill Close left the band there were so many times I thought it was time for The Freeze to bow out somewhat respectably. BUT more creative people appeared, each with their own enthusiasm and ideas. The band would continue onward into it's 27th year.
27 YEARS OF DEFIANCE, the long awaited (by us anyways) 'best of' Cd/DVD finally has a release date of June 24th on Beer City!

Books:

I started out in my mid-teens reading such great author's as Ray Bradbury, Kurt Vonnegut, William Burroughs; in my late teens I got into the 60's counterculture movement, NOT the Hippie shit but the ones who fought back, heroes such as MC5, Abbie Hoffman and his STEAL THIS BOOK, The Yippies, The Up Against the Wall Motherfuckers, The Weathermen, SDS, Hunter S. Thompson and all the rest of the courageous segment of Society who fought the government in an effort to "even the score" between the rich and the Poor, for minority and women's rights, for CHANGE! They won hundreds of battles before eventually losing the "War"! Today I read literature such as anything written by Cormac McCarthy, William T. Vollmann, Jonathan Lethem, Will Christopher Baer, Jonathan Franzen, Graham Joyce, Mark Billingham, Jonathan Carroll, and all the other author's writing from the fringes of society in order to expand it's borders and boundaries.

Heroes:

all societies Underdogs. The shit upon. Those brave enough to speak The Truth, wherever/whatever that may be!
