About Me

The Orange County Museum of Art is the premier visual arts museum in Orange County, California, serving a population of nearly three million residents in one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States. Located one hour south of Los Angeles, the museum’s main facility is in Newport Beach, with a satellite Orange Lounge , a new media space in Costa Mesa at South Coast Plaza.

The museum’s program of dynamic solo exhibitions and landmark group shows links historical and contemporary art and ideas, bridges local and global perspectives, and embraces a diverse array of cultural activities and media. The museum is dedicated to engaging diverse audiences by providing creative commentary and illuminating dialogue on issues in our society through the arts.

9BeetStretch May 3-4
Join us for a very special 24-hour performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Cosponsored by the Philharmonic Society of Orange County

Performance begins Saturday, May 3 at noon and continues until Sunday, May 4 at noon.

9BeetStretch, a musical composition and sound scape, conceived and implemented by Leif Inge, a Norweigan composer, is part of the Odd Beethoven Festival. Inge takes Beethoven's Ninth Symphjony and stretches it out over a 24-hour period. Even thought is it dramatically slower, those familiar with the real time version of the symphony will recognize it as they listen to it in this slow, much extended experience.

Spend the night at the museum and witness this one-of-a-kind experience!

EDITED BY ELIZABETH ARMSTRONG

1950s West Coast style exuded “cool”: from the smooth, hypnotic strains of a Miles Davis riff through Richard Neutra’s elegant modernist residences to the hard-edged paintings of Helen Lundeberg and Karl Benjamin. This richly illustrated volume casts a fresh eye on Fifties West Coast style.

Elizabeth Armstrong is Deputy Director for Programs and Chief Curator of the Orange County Museum of Art.
