The Korova 7" is OUT NOW. 7 songs recorded from 2002-2006, remastered for vinyl by Carl Snow of the legendary KORO, and awesome sick colored wax and shit.
Review in Razorcake:
Medium-fi hardcore stuff (some of it sounds like it was recorded during practice) that is solid nonetheless and manages to make some very pointed, very valid observations about the state of segments of the punk/hardcore scene. Decent stuff in all, with lots more going on than simplistic thrash-thrash-thrash. –Jimmy Alvarado (Victimized)
Review in Maximum Rock n Roll:
A fun seven tracks of ripping and crude basement/demo quality hardcore from 2001-2006 Alabama, with a smattering of the late 80s/early 90s Lookout Records style bass melody thrown in and even a ska-ish intro track. Mostly it's fast, blown out hardcore. The low and lower-fi sounds on this record give this a caustic and fresh edge, with the first track "Clockwork" being a total ripper. The lyrics are mostly complaints about the punk scene and punk scene politics, which I find amazing--in the 8 or 9 years I spent in Alabama involved in the punk scene there was a whole world of shit and rednecks outside to complain about and no punk scene, so I guess you don't always want what you wish for. Slapped together xerox packaging with ripped off Frank Miller artwork and more complaints about the punk scene. Limited to 500 on color splattered vinyl (KS---Ken Sanderson of Prank Records)

This 7" is a compilation of some demo tracks and live songs from this Birmingham, AL punk band that sounds like early hardcore/punk from California. If you are thinking Dead Kennedys, The Germs, and The Weirdos then you'd be right. The live stuff is a tough listen, the other songs are generic as all hell. Everything about this release stinks of being punk and DIY just like the old days.
YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE ENTIRE EP FOR FREE RIGHT HERE. I don't believe in charging for digital downloads. I have put the entire EP up for download for free, with a "Donate" link, like Radiohead. I expect that most people who would buy the record on vinyl will buy it anyway, and since there is no CD vesion (and won't be), I don't want to leave out those who don't own a record player, but I think it's unfair to charge them money upfront for an intangible format. I don't believe in the restrictions the RIAA has put on digital music, and I am doing this as a "fuck you" to them and anyone else who wants to turn music into a commodity. If you like it, feel free to donate whatever amount you feel is fair to offset server costs and the money we've lost pressing this on vinyl. Thank you!

In 20 years someone will compile all of our recordings and some live sets we never even knew existed and put it all together on a really nice double LP on red marbled wax in a gatefold sleeve with huge liner notes talking about how we were "influential" or "important". Suddenly any show we did had 5,000 people in attendence and slots with Demented Are Go and Ringworm will be talked about like they were six week tours. Of course, if someone wants to do that for us now, we wouldn't have any arguments. Labels, please, get in touch.
The local press says:
"Korova: A dude named Ian with a shaved head sings for a fast hardcore band that everyone hates, largely because of the dude named Ian with a shaved head. Hmm."
Others have said:
"Why the hell would these guys send in a recording that awful sounding. It sounds like was recorded in an unfinished basement using a ghetto blaster. The tune itself wasn't horrible, but you can tell that this band isn't serious."
"If I could understand what he is saying I would hate this song even more..."
"The only thing I can say about this is... are you serious? The pace of this song is GRUELING and makes it really hard to enjoy ANYTHING that this song has to offer..."
"I hate to say it, but what you've created requires no talent at all. Mindless screaming and the way you sing is just speaking that is pushed harder. No melody, no tune, nothing to like. Punk music is great, this is not..I'm not sure where to help you, maybe better production would help a lot!..sorry I'm not a fan."
"Not very good of a song, sorry guys, keep trying."
"No offense but...slow it down. At this point all I hear is noise made up of 3 chords or so. Can't understand the lyrics so I can't even comment on them. Sorry guys..."
"The lead vocals sound very muffled, and too gutter punkish. The lyrics sound pretty politically stupid, but I can't understand them through all the yelling, screaming and muffled vocals."
"Hey this sounds really bad."

Nic's in college. Chad's in Slag. Carter's in Everyman. Ian got his girlfriend pregnant and moved to IllinOIs. Haha.
We added this shit on November 29th, 2006 to ease my curiosity.
