For those of you who don't know:
SLAG n. 1. The vitreous mass left as a residue by the smelting of metallic ore.
2. the scum formed by oxidation at the surface of molten metals.
3. A WASTE PRODUCT OF THE STEEL INDUSTRY.
(We are not a "Metal" band)
Here's the story:
Ian (Lead vocals and rhythm guitar) and Chad (Lead guitar and ummfin' and ahhin') are members/ former members of Korova (Nobody ever knows if Korova is together or not until they play a show and even then it's up in the air.) met up with Chewy (some kind of growl shit and Bass) who just moved to Birmingham. Chewy said, "Hey, I know a guy who plays drums" and brings in Dan (Drums), who if you happen to like discussions about politics, corporate misdoings, veganism, and environmentalism, he's your man to talk to. Things went great. Had some shaky shows. Played with some really good people. Put out a six-song CD.
Ian went and got married and moved to the land of FCS. AKA the windy city. BKA Chicago. Where he now performs nightly musicals with Katherine Zeta Jones. (lucky bastard) Since Ian's departure, Chad and Chewy have taken up the slack on vocals and now share the duties. SLAG also recruited the talents of Wes from Steel City Crime for guest guitar spots on songs we felt really needed two guitars. We were also heavily involved in the brain washing of this punk.
Traditional brainwashing techniques did not work and sadly, we could not improve his guitar playing abilities. After an annoying search for a second guitar player, SLAG decided to move forward as a three-piece.
On the 23rd of February 2007 SLAG played it's final show with the Koffin Kats, Gutterpunx, The Devastators, and our good friends The Ouchies. SLAG came to an end because Chewy moved back to the swamps of Louisiana where he promptly joined his brothers in a band named Plan Z (You can check them out by clicking on them in our "top friends" list) and another project with Vince from American Outlaws/ Bite the Curb called Bullpup. There was talk of Dan and Chad forming a new band but there is no news of it at the time of this update.
Our CD is OUT NOW on Victimized Records. You can buy it atInterpunk.com or at our next show.
