V/A "Show ''em whatcha got California!" So many times these comps of regional acts fall flat on their faces--too much filler, not enough meat. Fortunately the folk behind Durty Mick Records have taste and an open mind when it comes to their rock 'n roll. Quality throughout, taking in the ripping ol' school hardcore of KILL NINE NINE, to the amazing STIFF LITTLE FINGERS-inspired punk of THE SORE THUMBS, to the high octane rock 'n roll of BLACK MARKET RADIO. 24 tracks, too many bands to mention, but the keepers far out weigh the losers, which speaks volumes for a comp. We have reviewed a lot of compilations lately and here yet another one. 24 songs by different punk rock, Oi! and hardcore bands outta California. Most bands do a good job and my absolute favorite songs are The Last Gang's "Please, Please", The Ignorant's "Losing's In His Blood", Black Market Radio's "Kill Me" and Kill Nine Nine's "Panic". Other bands on this compilation are The Sore Thumbs, who you might know from our interview, Cheapskate, The Hudson Drags & Nuts And Bolts to name a few. Over all this is a pretty cool release from Durty Mick Records. -Reviewed by Christer
