La Tresca nasce nel 2000 dall’idea di alcuni amici che avevano pensato di formare un gruppo di musica folk e musica irlandese. Dopo l’inizio caratterizzato soprattutto dalla rivisitazione di tradizionali più o meno standard,la band comincia a scrivere cose di proprio pugno, mettendo in evidenza la forte presenza di suoni e storie della propria terra: Orvieto la Tuscia e il lago di Bolsena; in pratica un triangolo geografico che racchiude le radici dei componenti del gruppo.
Nel 2001 inizia la collaborazione con l’allora componente dei Modena City Ramblers MASSIMO GIUNTINI, grande maestro di uilleann pipe (tra i primi in Italia) nonché vero esperto di folk irlandese; nasce così il primo CD (autoprodotto) intitolato’’ME SA’ MMIANNO DA VEDA’’(sono impaziente di vedere),arrangiato da Massimo Giuntini e distribuito inizialmente da Fairyland Records (Roma), successivamente passato alla Ai-Music. Questo primo lavoro è una specie di esercizio, quasi un gioco, in cui il gruppo si diverte nella mescolanza e nell’accostamento del folk con leggende irlandesi e nostrane. Inconfondibile lo stampo irish di ballate e gighe.
Da segnalare nello stesso anno l’improvvisata session con i Modena (tutti, vecchi e nuovi) al Sisten Irish Pub di Novellara,durande la festa di S.Patrizio, il patrono d’Irlanda.
Nel frattempo la forte dominante locale e naturale della band comincia ad acquistare crescente identità, per primo negli spettacoli “live” e subito dopo anche nelle composizioni inedite.
Nel 2003 un singolo ’’LEZIONI DI VOLO’’ viene prodotto e distribuito dalla casa editrice LE BALZE, in allegato all’omonimo libro dell’autore toscano LUIGI PAGNOTTA. Il brano contenuto nel CD è completamente ispirato ad uno dei racconti del libro, e vanta come in precedenza la direzione artistica del Giunta (Massimo Giuntini). Cresce intanto l’attività ’’live’’ con concerti in molte città d’Italia e all’estero (Germania e Svizzera),e inoltre con la partecipazione ad alcuni festival come il ’’Ferrara Buskers Festival’’,’’Fairylands Festival’’ di Guidonia(Roma),’’Senza Etichetta’’ Ciriè(Torino),’’Artistrada’’ Colmurano (Mc),’’Imola in Musica’’, ’’Mantova Musica Festival’’,’’Irlanda in festa’’ Teatro Saschall (Firenze).
Il gruppo acquisisce maggiore consapevolezza di sé e offre sempre più importanza ai propri contenuti e al messaggio che essi intendono diffondere. Con le varie traversate su e giù per il paese nascono nuove amicizie, conoscenze ed influenze, ed ecco quindi gli spunti per il nuovo lavoro. Nei primi mesi del 2004 esce il secondo album ’’COMPAGNI DI STRADA’’ (Etichetta AI-Music). Prodotto artisticamente sempre da Massimo Giuntini (ormai quasi un componente del gruppo), contiene le collaborazioni di Erriquez(Banbabardò) e Luca Lanzi(Casa del Vento). In questo lavoro si parla di leggende locali, di gente di paese, di storie vere, di filastrocche popolari, di personaggi intriganti e grotteschi, sempre e comunque legate alle terre di origine del gruppo.
“il sudore delle piazze è la più grande linfa che nutre le nostre note”. Per questo la band è sempre pronta,con un piede sul furgone, a portare la propria musica ovunque fino a raggiungere paesi all’estero come Germania, Svizzera, e non ultima Macedonia.
Nel 2007 esce il terzo CD ’’CINQUEMILA ANNI’’ prodotto da Massimo Giuntini su Etichetta AI-Music. Si tratta di un lavoro che parte dal concetto dell’evoluzione e del progresso che paradossalmente e ciclicamente ci riporta sempre alle nostre origini e alla nostra natura: l’essere animale, figlio della terra.
In un gioco di parallelismi si parte da Oetzi, il simpatico quanto sventurato ometto del Similaun vissuto appunto Cinquemila anni fa (da cui il titolo) ritrovato ibernato in Val Senales nel 1991, per arrivare fino a Chang, un semplice operaio giapponese che lavorava tranquillo nella sua fabbrica fino a quando venne cancellato da una bomba “intelligente”.
Più maturo rispetto ai precedenti, soprattutto per quello che riguarda gli argomenti presi in esame, perché stavolta si toccano anche temi amari e di denuncia, riflessioni sul senso della vita e della nefandezza di certi potenti, pur non perdendo quell’anima paesana-scanzonata che costituisce forse il maggiore punto di forza della musica del gruppo. Anche stavolta il tutto è impreziosito dalla partecipazione di illustri ospiti come Cisco (voce storica dei Modena City Ramblers), Raffaello Simeoni (polistrumentista e grande compositore), Francesco”Fry” Moneti dei Modena City Ramblers, Silvia Gallone (prima organettista dell’ “orchestra della notte della taranta” e “orchestra popolare italiana” di Ambrogio Sparagna) e Rodolfo Montuoro (Feltrinelli). Folk-rock, cantautorale italiano, qualche aria irlandese e un leggero odore balcanico si alternano in un caleidoscopio di colori ed emozioni che rappresenta senza dubbio il punto più alto toccato dal gruppo…almeno finora.

La Tresca è ovunque ci sia festa e mescolanza, danze e sudori, suoni, colori e piedi scalzi su nuda terra.
La Tresca è contro la guerra e il potere dei pochi, e appoggia in pieno chi lotta contro ogni forma di prevaricazione per la libertà degli individui, perchè siamo tutti figli dello stesso mondo.... 70% acqua, 30% terra....o c'è forse tra di voi qualche marziano?

La Tresca was born in 2000 of the idea of some friends who thought to form a folk and Irish music band. After a beginning characterized by the re-interpretation of some traditionals pieces and covers of famous authors, the band begins to write its own pieces, highlighting the strong presence of sound and stories of its own land: the Etruscans in the area of Orvieto, the “Tuscia” and Bolsena Lake, a geographical triangle that encloses the origins of the group components. In 2001 the collaboration with the Modena City Ramblers ex-component Massimo Giuntini begins, great teacher of “uillean pipe” (one of the first in Italy) and real expert in Irish folk; it is like this that the first (self-produced) CD is born, with the title “ME SA’ MMIANNO DA VEDA” (trad.: I am impatient to see), arranged by Massimo Giuntini and distributed by Fairyland at the beginning and then by AI-Music (Milano). This first work is a sort of exercise, almost a game, in which the group enjoys the melting and the combination of folk, Irish an home legends. The Irish imprint of the ballads and gigas is unforgettable. Another important element in the same year is the adlibbed session with the Modena City Ramblers (all of them, old and new) at the Sisten Irish Pub in Novellara, during the S.Patrick Day, the Irish patron saint. Meanwhile the strong local and natural dominant characteristic of the band begins to acquire a growing identity, first in the live shows and then in the new compositions. In 2003 a new song, “Lezioni di volo” (Flying lessons), is produced and distributed by the publishing house Le Balze, attached to the homonym book by the Tuscan author Luigi Pagnotta. The song included in the CD is completely inspired by one of the tales of the book, and has, as before, the artistical direction of Massimo Giuntini. In the meantime the “live” activity grows with concerts in many Italian and foreign towns (German and Swiss), and with the participation to some festivals like the “Ferrara Buskers Festival”, “Fairylands Festival” in Guidonia (Roma), “Senza Etichetta” in Ciriè (Torino), “Artistrada” in Colmurano (Mc), “Imola in Musica”, “Mantova Musica Festival”, “Irlanda in festa” at the Sachall Theatre (Firenze). The group adcquires a bigger awareness and gives more and more importance to its contents and messages. During the crossings up and down the country new frienships, meetings and influences born and here are the ideas for a new work. At the beginning of 2004 the second album “Compagni di strada” (Road-mates) comes out (AI-Music). Artistically produced by Massimo Giuntini (who has almost become a component of the group), the album contains the collaborations of Erriquez (Bandabardò) and Luca Lanzi (Casa del Vento). This work talks about local legends, village people, true stories, popular carols, charming and freaky characters, still linked to the group’s land of origin. “The sweat of the squares is the main lifeblood that feeds our notes”. Because of that the band is always ready, with a foot on the van, to bring its music everywhere, as far as foreign countries like Germany, Switzerland, Macedonia and Hungary. In 2007 the third CD “Cinquemila anni” (Five thousand years) comes out, produced by Massimo Giuntini with AI-Music. The work is born of the concept of evolution and progress that paradoxically and cyclically bring us back to our origins and nature: the animal being, son of the earth. In a game of parallelisms beginning with Oetzi, funny and unlucky man who lived five thousand years ago (the title comes from here) and have been found hibernated in Val Senales (Italian Alps) in 1991, the work ends with Chang, a plain Japanese worker who works quietly in his factory until he is cancelled by an “intelligent” bomb. The album is more mature than the previous ones because of the themes it deals with, which are this time even sour and denouncing, with reflections on the sense of life and vileness of some powerful people, even if it doesn’t lose the easy-going popular soul that represents the main strong point of the music of the group. Even this time some important guests make the work precious: Cisco (historical voice of the Modena City Ramblers), Raffello Simeoni (great musician and ethnic music composer), Francesco “Fry” Moneti (Modena City Ramblers), Silvia Gallone (first barrel organ in the “taranta night orchestra” and in the “popular Italian orchestra” of Ambrogio Sparagna) and Rodolfo Montuoro (Feltrinelli). Folk-rock, Italian, some Irish airs and a light Balcanic smell alternate in a kaleidoscope of colours and emotions that represents without a doubt the highest level reached by the group…at least till now. And the story continues…La tresca is wherever there is party and melting, dances and sweats sounds, colours and naked feet on naked ground. La Tresca is against the war and the power of the few, and totally supports the people who fight against any abuse of power for freedom, because we are all sons of the same world…70% water, 30% earth…or is there any Martian among you, maybe?
