Hi, i am Shahbaz and i am a tabla player with over 20 years of experience. I am based in the UK and and travel the world performing and conducting workshops to students.My main field is classical from solo to accompaniment. I have also done numerous work with world class musicians of all cultures.I have learnt this art from my father, Ustad Mumtaz Husain then i went on further to learn from 3 of the greatest tabla maetsros of this century, Ustad Fayaz Khan, Mian shokat Hussain Khan and Ustad Alla Rakha.My family boasts many great musicians who were pivitol in the propogation of the art and craft. Members of my family include, ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Kathu Khan (court musician of Ranjit Singh), Ustad Mian Billay Khan of punjab.
