The Roadside Prophets

About Me

The Roadside Prophets Group BioThe Roadside Prophets is an acoustic rock/folk duo playing shows in and around the Charlotte area. The members are Bryan Talbott of Rocky Mount, NC, and Jed Beck of Charlotte, NC.Bryan Talbott plays acoustic guitar and sings original songs and covers by: Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Grateful Dead, Todd Snider, Jimmy Buffett, The Allman Bros., The Band, Oasis, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Kevin Kinney - Drivin' N Cryin', etc. You might say Bryan is the "Old School Prophet." Bryan has been playing guitar thirteen years. He began playing gigs in 1994 around Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach, NC. Bryan then became a co-founder of the rock band Blueshine, as a guitar player, singer and songwriter. Blueshine played gigs everywhere from Wilmington to Chapel Hill, NC. After relocating to Charlotte in 2000, Bryan started playing solo acoustic gigs around Charlotte and the surrounding area. After a few months, Bryan began playing music with the talented, versatile Charlotte musician Jed Beck and... The Roadside Prophets were born.Jed Beck plays guitar, saxophone, keyboards, and sings. Jed performs originals as well as covers by Bob Dylan, Wilco, Ryan Adams, Beck, Radiohead, etc. If Bryan is the "old school prophet," Jed might be the "new school prophet." Jed has played guitar for 14 years and studied saxophone at Appalachian State University. Jed has previously played guitar and sang in a heavy rock group Lucid Candle, and has also recorded and produced early demos for acts such as Phillip Hamrick and the up and coming indie label sensation "The Hymns" from New York City. Jed got his bachelors degree in Music Industry Studies from Appalachian State. After Jed graduated, he also worked at Jay Howard Production Audio - a recording studio in Charlotte, NC."People ask what kind of music we like. I usually say anything that is good and real, " says Bryan. "By that I mean... music that comes from the heart; Music that is honest and exciting and makes people feel something, rather than music that is prepackaged, fabricated and merely fills a slot on a shelf somewhere existing only to make money rather than art and beauty and happiness. I enjoy playing music that makes us and the people around us happy. I love it when my head is bobbing, my foot is tapping and I look out at the crowd and they are smiling and bobbing and tapping right along with us!"The Roadside Prophets have already built a considerable local following. Show dates are posted on their website, and show reminders are e-mailed to members of their mailing list. The band is very thankful for the loyal group of fans that come out and see every show, and always greatly appreciate the time, consideration and opportunity from the venues that book them!Roadside Prophets t-shirts available here! https://www.spreadshirt.com/shop.php?sid=37008
