About Me

Hi i'm Leiah... YES, LIKE IN STAR WARS...... phew glad thats out of the way...
A little background for you... I am an immigrant, born in Venezuela, raised in the States where I had to balance the overwhelming influence of British/Anglo/African American multi-cultures with my very obvious Latin/Italian uprbringing. I realize now that it was all a carefully devised plan to over-stimulate my senses with so many different flavors that I can't even remember what the original colors of my imagination and impression of the world were before they all bled together. My first love was R&B and Soul, then came Alternative/Grunge (Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell), then Electronica and Jazz and last but never least Hip Hop...
Here comes the blah blah blah... I have been courted by record labels, producers, publishers etc... and the problem was always the same: What category do I fit in? What's my demographic? How can I be pigeon-holed into a perfect pre-packaged POPSTAR? I don't hear a hit or can you write 10 more of this one song ... This is baffling to me 'cuz its not rocket science people, LET THE FANS DECIDE FOR FUCKS SAKES...But there has to be a platform somewhere where us Indy musicians can get our music heard...In my years of experience my demographic has proven to be ageless. So I feel for you industry folk (A&R, publishers and such) who can't think outside the box and take a risk. I know you have to pay the bills and I ain't mad at you for that, but then why even bother getting into the industry if not for the love and preservation of sound. It's unfortunate that so many of us have been overlooked because of the industries lack of imagination, creativity, courage, vision, individuality, purpose... you catch my drift. Well, Momma didn't raise no quitter, my own purpose, vision and prophetic sense of destiny has never allowed it despite being brushed aside or misunderstood by many power hitters in the business. I've written over 100 songs, some have been called "HITS" by BIZ folk, and I intend to exploit those songs on my own terms as a bonafide songwriter. Hits are a product of serendipity, not premeditation and a rhyming dictionary.
Slowly but surely I'm gaining more and more of a following through the purity of the craft and performing as opposed to a popularity contest contrived by the media. Currently, I'm putting a marketing and promotion plan into effect for my first album IRRECONCILABLE DIFFERENCES which was produced by my hero Gabriel Vivas. We have street teams in Orlando, Miami, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Raleigh, Asheville, Atlanta, Caracas, Montreal, Los Angeles, Toronto and NYC. Its also available online through CDFREEDOM.com .
I intend to go all the way, and I will make a living doing music for the rest of my life, whether it's global or on a smaller scale I don't know and frankly I don't care, but the book was written long before I ever thought it out. Anything else you need to know about me is in the music, so just listen...
