About Me

OCHA ONE was established in 2004 by Ladybug, who is a self taught seamstress.OCHA ONE manifested from something that she always thought was beyond herself... but over the years the realization set in that this is something that runs through her as quietly and as unspoken as her daily breath. Whether it be the ancestors that guide her hands or the Orisha that direct the fabric to fall a certain way... the fabric continues to metamorphosize into beautiful garments, panuelos, dilogun bags, aprons, scarves, and/or hats.Beginning at the age of 8 years old, she would make dolls and doll clothes. Ladybug used dental floss rather than thread because back in those days....string was string. Needless to say...painting and collage art came into her life around the same time...because her mother always found creative ways to keep her busy. By her teenage years... she was truly and quietly in love with sewing. This gift of creativity has colored Ladybug's reality ever since she could remember. Ladybug digests the world and regurgitates it through creativity. Aside from being an educator, Ladybug is self-employed and specializes in sewing for the Ocha community. It has been a true blessing to create scarves, hats, dilogun bags, panuelos, throne clothes and more. The opportunities are endless. Live, love, and thrive.OCHA ONE is a manifestation of Ladybug and that which relates to her and beyond. Ase.Maferefun Olokun!

My Interests

Painting, drawing, writing, listening to beautiful beats and lyrics, dreaming, navigating through my thoughts, designing & sewing, reading, traveling, manicures and pedicures, going to the hair salon...pampering myself, the beach, the mountains, love, capoeira, appreciating the beauty of graffiti... AND observing and participating in the MANY other trips of life.
