Back in 1970, Terry Clemson was a founding member of the reformed “HOUSESHAKERS†One of Britains top Rock’ n ’Roll bands of the time. Along with “The Wild Angelsâ€, and “Shakin’ Stevens and the Sunsets†they pioneered the 70’s Rock’ n ’Roll revival which blossomed into the Rockin’ scene we know today.
After a few months of non-stop touring, original “Houseshakers†singer, Brian Chamberlain left the band, and was replaced by Graham Fenton, better known today as a member of “Matchboxâ€. The “Househakers†went from strength to strength touring in both 1970, and 71 as Gene Vincents backing band. As well as performing in their own right at Wembley Stadium’s prestigious 1972 “London Rock’ n ’Roll show,†they were asked to back Chuck Berry, and Bo Diddley. An honour indeed!
In 1973, Terry Clemson, and Graham Fenton left the “Houseshakersâ€, and went on to form another top 70’s Rockin’ outfit “THE HELLRAISERS†This band continued until the end of the decade whereupon Terry Clemson, and Graham Fenton went their separate way’s. Graham into “Matchboxâ€, and Terry Clemson into amongst others, the legendary Instrumental band “Johnny and the Hurricanesâ€!!!
“The music of the fabulous 50s & 60sâ€
The TTs were formed in the summer of 1986 and since then have undergone many changes to the original line-up. The current line up is Terry Clemson, lead guitar and vocals, Eddie McManus, bass guitar and Phil Hunter, Drummer.
The TTs are highly regarded as being one of the best exponents of 50’s and 60’s Rock and Roll today. The bands pedigree is very impressive to say the least. Between them they have played as back-up musicians behind many legendary rock and roll bands, and performers including Gene Vincent, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, the Temptations, Hank (Jungle Rock) Mizell, Johnny and the Hurricanes, Heinz, Tommy Bruce, Wee Willie Harris, Billie Davis, Screaming Lord Sutch and Kathy Kirby to name but a few.
Terry Clemson has been a professional musician since he was 17. In the early sixties he was a member of the internationally renowned Downliners Sect, a progressive Rhythm ‘n’ Blues band who achieved cult status in the UK, rivalling the Rolling Stones and the Yardbirds. They had several hits in Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. They even knocked the Beatles off the number 1 spot in Sweden with their hit ‘Little Egypt’. Following his successful time in the R&B field, Terry yearned to return to his true love of 50’s Rock and Roll. In 1972, Terry played for his heroes Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley at the famous Wembley Stadium Rock and Roll Show. He can claim to be the first guitarist ever to play at a rock concert at Wembley, even before the likes of such greats as Eric Clapton. The Wembley concert has been shown in cinemas all over the world and on TV and is now available on DVD.
Eddie and Phil have also both been involved in the Rock and Roll scene for many years. Eddie has appeared with Gene Vincent and also with Kathy Kirby. Phil was a one-time member of Flying Saucers, and Project X. The band has recorded 2 CD’s “Accelerator†and “Lost Highwaysâ€. “Accelerator†is now unfortunately out of stock. Speak to Terry if you wish to purchase their latest excellent CD “Lost Highwaysâ€.

He has also produced records by Cliff Richard, The Everly Brothers, The Crickets, etc. Stuart has also been a Rockin’ Radio D.J., working for both B.B.C. Radio One, and Capital Gold. He recently said of the TTs.
“ I only saw the band once last year, when I was over in the U.K. It was refreshing to see an electric bass (my instrument), and to hear standards that no one seems to do anymore. Terry is a top guitarist and surprise, surprise can sing as well which to be honest shocked me! I would recommend them any time, as not only a cracking band, but as a truly professional outfit. Keep on rockin’ guysâ€. Stuart.
