SCREWSTON

It takes 46 muscles to frown, but only 4 to flip ‘em the bird.

Trace has lived every day of his life with this quote buried not so deep in his mind. Born Edgar Burns Crutchfield III in the wilds of Texas way back in the 70's, Trace was given his nickname by his Spanish speaking illiterate nanny. She was eventually passed on, the name fortunately, did not.
From an early age, Trace realized that a proper education wasn’t for him. The first day of 9th grade, he got up, got dressed, walked out of his front door, rounded the corner and instead of going to school, he walked right past it and straight into downtown Austin. This would be the first time he experimented with drugs. For the next 5 years, Trace made a living by whatever means possible. Published his own fanzines Dry Heave and The Incubator, made art and cracked wise while worshiping famed Texas punk bands such as the Big Boys and the Dicks. He slept on busses, in parks, with friends, with girls… really, Trace did what he wanted, when he wanted, and aside from having a dream job and an actual apartment with a bed to lay his head at night, things aren’t all that different. His ability to live life and play by his own rules has not only earned him endless recognition and praise for his work as a journalist, but has created a movement with in journalism. News isn’t supposed to be simple reporting on the days tragedies, and recounts of events throughout history. It’s meant to educate people on things that they would otherwise know nothing about. This is only taken so far in today's media… Trace Crutchfield is taking it to the next step and beyond.
He has made a name for himself by being honest. He continues to travel to far off countries with camera in tow, going where he wants to go with seemingly no regard for his safety, asking the questions that he wants to ask, and returning with stories that have every television network jaw dropped. Trace didn’t pioneer creative journalism, he just perfected it. His unwillingness to take no for an answer and his balls of steel have birthed a media juggernaut. He’s been to every continent on the planet investigating everything from the coca fueled highlands of Bolivia, to giggling over sushi with Imelda Marcos in the the Philippines, he dabbled in syrupy Houston music scene and even dipped into a bubble bath with Mexico’s bizarre pop sensation Ranferi.
