I am here for Friends

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Folks who are wise, skilled, kind, honorable, eye-opening and fun! :) People who inspire inner peace and verse.

Also, anyone who can slow time or better yet create new time. I seem to be a bit short this week.

Music:

Voice Idols: PJ Harvey, Björk, Kate Bush, Stereolab, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, just to get the list started.

Favorite bands right now: Ween, The Shins and almost everything from the Thrill Jockey label.Umm, anything with a cowbell???
I'll have to work on the rest of the genres a little later.

Movies:

Harold and Maude, Secretary,The Pillow Book, Amelie, Fargo, Lost In Translation, The Fisher King, Delicatessen, Rushmore, City of Lost Children, Brazil, Rope, Rear Window, American Beauty, Once Upon a Time in the West, Iron Monkey, 12 Monkeys, Last Hurrah for Chivalry, Donnie Darko, Brain Candy, Strange Brew, Big Lebowski, Hedwig and the Angry Itch, Better Off Dead, any Akira Kirosawa... the list goes on and on....

Television:

Heat Vision and Jack,The Weather Channel and I use to watch Samurai Jack but have not a clue what happened to that show!

Books:

Mostly textbooks. Kurt Vonnegut, Buckminster Fuller, Jung, Noam Chomsky, trying to go back through the classics... Most of the technical and philosophical books I've read have male authors. I'd love some suggestions for non-fiction women authors! Thanks all! :) :)

Heroes:

NOBEL e-Museum
"When I'm working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong." - R. Buckminster Fuller
"Physics is like sex. Sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it." - R. Feynman
"If you see a whole thing - it seems that it's always beautiful. Planets, lives.... But close up a world's all dirt and rocks. And day to day, life's a hard job, you get tired, you lose the pattern." - Ursula K. LeGuin
"A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side." - Aristotle
"The things that will destroy us are: politics without principle; pleasure without conscience; wealth without work; knowledge without character; business without morality; science without humanity; and worship without sacrifice." - Mahatma Gandhi
