About Me

Born in Athens. Started playing piano around eight years old.Continued with lessons for about ten years, untill I finished highschool and haven't even touched it since... I decided to let it go because for me, six strings are more than enough, plus I had a different orientation than Liszt.Don't take me wrong, Beethoven's Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor leaves me with an awe, but so does Son House's "Death Letter"... Took jazz guitar lessons for a year with N.Terzakis.I had to stop due to a never ending dire straits situation. After that, I continued on my own and been here and there with some bands but nothing serious enough to be mentioned.Around 2003 I was lucky enough to meet Magic Slim's right hand guitarist, Michael Dotson and had some lessons with him every now and then. Currently a proud founding member of the Congo Square, along with Panagiotis Kanellis, George Yiarelis & Gregory Yiarelis and also played the part of the "rag" in the Rags & Old Iron blues duo, untill late 2007, when Boris and I parted ways... Other interests include reading Dashiel Hammet's books and other film noir writers and not only.I also read the "Love in the time of cholera" and I understood it.It's about girls, right?Ha, ha... Also a great cinemaniac and record collector, that is whenever I can afford it. Favourite top 3 movies are HUD(1963) with Paul Newman and Patricia Neal, Bergman's VIRGIN SPRING(1963) with Max Von Sydow and Louis Malle's ASCENSEUR POUR L'ECHAFAUD(1958) with Jeanne Moreau and Georges Poujouly and Miles Davis' music.Top 3 records are Jimi Hendrix's - Live at the Fillmore with the band of Gupsies(1969), Son House's - Delta Blue(1941)and Allman Brothers' - Live at the Fillmore East(1971). Supporter of the following ancient greek saying:"those who can, do and those who cannot teach..." also of another one I just remembered and goes as follows:"Who do you think you are sir?", "In my country we do not think who we are, we know who we are", the last was a Peter Sellers' line from Party. A great Artimus Pyle fan and also of vintage guitars,amps,pedals,mics,etc... A gearhead some would say and a devoted one, I would add... Favorite song of the last months is "FOOL FOR YOUR STOCKINGS" by "Reverend"Billy F.Gibons,Dusty Hill and Frank"Rube"Beard a.k.a. ZZ... And lastly I'd say I 'm a fanatic beer and circumstancial home-made gin drinker, but rarely I'd describe me as a hellraiser.Religious-wise, I belong to the Appalachian Cobra Worshippers dogma.
