Arcade Playmate was formed in Jakarta on July 2006 when struggling DJ Tosynth met Ballads of The Cliche keyboardist Ideahead and The sweater guitarist Nourepublic at Indie pop Shop, Heyfolks. Discovering a shared passion of the simple New wave sound and synthesizers, they immediately decided to start a side project band.The name Arcade Playmate was chosen in honour to 80s classic video game era that inspired their sound. However, each members' bussines had made the band's activity stopped for awhile. In July 2007, the band returned with the new formation. After Ideahead and Nourepublic decided to concentrated to their former band, The Earth Colony vocalist/keyboardist Koc soon signed on as well as writer/vocalist Cupcakespeaches who was brought in to complete the line up.
