I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm a 26 year old trying her hardest not to grow up. I love playing dress-up, and having lightsaber battles in the backyard, and eating Lucky Charms for dinner. I go to the beach whenever I can, to snorkle and read and bodysurf and build sandcastles and catch fiddler crabs. I love animals, especially unusual ones. Of all my pets, the only furry one is the tarantula. If you think snakes can't be friendly, you've never met Techno.
I'm a homebody when it comes to "fun". I love reading, spend way too much time on my computer, and I've always got something geeky on my television. Speaking of geeky, I'm probably the only girl you'll meet with light-up Darth Vader sneakers. Lots of people have fuzzy dice in their cars, but how many have fuzzy d20s? Two of my three tattoos are from RPGs; the other is a penguin named Inky. I have a bright yellow car named Firefly, who has an Autobot sticker on his back windshield. (I am still convinced Firefly would make a great Bumblebee.)
I'm terrified of zombies, Rice Crispies, and talking trees, but I'll gladly remove any wild spiders you may come across in the house. I was an English geek through high school, have a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, minored in Classical Studies, and spent over a year working in corporate foreclosure law before moving to accounting for a construction company, followed by environmental testing. But what I really want is to be doing research again; learning and discovering.
I don't drink/smoke/do drugs, so bars and clubs usually aren't my thing, though the Castle in Ybor City can be fun. But never underestimate the fun of milkshakes at 3 a.m. at Steak N Shake.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Anyone around my own age, for friendship, or meeting back up with old friends I fell out of contact with.

Music:

Rock occasionally, though I tend more towards instrumental and world music. Loreena McKennitt, Enya, Taiko drums, didgeridoo music. Evita and Phantom of the Opera. The music scores from Last Samurai and Gladiator. VNV Nation and Bloodwire.

Movies:

No particular genre, I'll see whatever catches my eye. Between a family who loves movies, and growing up in a small place where there wasn't much else to do, any movie has the potentional to be one of my favorites.

Television:

I am all about learning while I watch tv. I liked Discovery before it became all-motorcycles, all-the-time, and TLC before it became makeover shows. Now, it's Discovery Times, National Geographic, Science, History. Add a healthy dose of Adult Swim and Comedy Central. And Bones and House as my network tv favorites. And DVR is the greatest invention on earth.

Books:

I'm on a historical fiction kick right now, but really, I'm a voracious reader. Richard Preston's The Hot Zone introducd me to what I want to do with my life. Timeline, Michael Crichton, is still one of my favorite books, and I can read it in three hours. I love everything by Tom Robbins and Carl Hiaasen. Anne Rice is my guilty pleasure. Catch-22 is an accurate depiction of reality.

Heroes:

7-18-1953 - 3-4-2006
I love you Dad, and I miss you so much.
