In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king...

About Me

Hello. I am Monk (Shane). I work in radio. I run a website promoting independent music (see banner below). My wife and my stepson are my heart. I have a cat named Butter who is exactly like me.
I am who I am, like it or not.
I feel most comfortable around family and friends. I am sarcastic and quick. I enjoy a good joke. I am one of the most loyal people you will ever meet. I am probably one of the most brutally honest people you will ever meet. I call it like it is. I seem to say what everyone else is afraid to. I'm not the favorite kind of companion for the average person, sometimes things start well but eventually worsen. I do what I do for a love of music and for the people who make music. I like attitude driven, noisy music made by people who say what's on their mind. I don't like bullshitters. I like dark, dirty, distorted, meat and three kinda rock n' roll songs about living in the country. I love having a cup of coffee in one hand and a cigarette in the other. The highway's a story teller, I just write it down, already been beaten, there's no way to fight it now. I just kick back and keep warm on the cold days and laugh 'cause it ain't like it was in the old days. I figure when I make it to the heavenly gates, they'll be working on my car and playing 78's I am a people watcher. I have always been liked but have never been the coolest guy in the room, which I am okay with. I like myself so if I am ever left by myself, I won't go crazy. I am a quiet person for the most part. I'm told passion is my specialty but really I'm old-fashioned. I have a love for life when I have a day off. As I get older I am realizing that my ways are becoming set. I am furry and furious. In the early nineties I was the voice of the now infamous band of mississppi punkers The White House Slaves, I could eat my weight in cereal. I think too much. Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage! I have a short attention span most days. So short that I'm bored doing this and will return later to write more.
My book remains half-written...
