JUJU HUSTLERS are an original London based 4 piece band. Formed in late 2007, their music is an intoxicating blend of Funk, Rock, Soul, Punk, Blues & Hip-Hop.........Vocalist/MC TIGGA WRIGHT-BROWNE is a punksoulcentric freak of nature. Known under various other pseudonyms, she is a pure genre hopper. As well as being one of the first female MC’s on the U.K Drum & Bass scene, she has guested on various Hip-Hop, Soul, Punk, Electro, House, Rock & Funk projects.
Her original vocal style is reminiscent of Janis Joplin, Beth Gibbons (Portishead) & funk-rock diva Betty Davis. Other current projects include PINSTICKERS & PHUTURESONIC.........Guitarist JON SPEEDY is an established session player, songwriter, arranger & band leader. He has contributed to various Soul, Funk, Jazz & Rock projects, including a stint as Guitarist & Band MD for R&B vocalist IMAN (signed to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood label), and a current ongoing collaboration with Poet & Singer-Songwriter ZENA EDWARDS (BBC Poetry Awards nominee). With JUJU HUSTLERS, he indulges himself in the funk-rock stylings of guitarists including Eddie Hazel (Funkadelic), Keziah Jones & John Frusciante (Chili Peppers).........Bassist DAN SWAIN is an experienced live performer, session player, composer & all-round vibester. As well as touring internationally with Soul/Jazz/Funk Vocalist ALICE RUSSELL, he has also contributed his infamous Bass playing skills to Nu-folk band 9BACH, and Singer-Songwriter Dave Noble’s NATURE BOY project.
For the JUJU’s, he holds down the lyrical groove in the vibe of Larry Graham (Sly & The Family Stone), Norman Watt-Roy (The Blockheads) & Bootsy Collins.........J.B is a powerhouse Groove-Rock Drummer of the highest order. Son of Canadian folk singer BONNIE DOBSON (who's songs have been covered by the likes of ROBERT PLANT & THE GRATEFUL DEAD), he is an accomplished musician, and has provided the live beats for various projects including R&B/Funk-Rocker’s MOKA and indie-rock band ASTROMAN. For the JUJU HUSTLERS, he brings his solid Heavy-Funk Drumming Style, which echoes that of Buddy Miles, John Bonham (Led Zep) and Chad Smith (Chili Peppers).
