Hardcore 4 Life

About Me

Hailing from Los Angeles, California Djay Abel was first introduced to hardcore in the summer of 1993. Abel's first influences were Dyewitness, TNT, Brainwasher, Bald terror, Rotterdam termination source, human resource, Dj ruffneck, Predator, Neophyte, Marc acardipane (bass of spades), DJ Rob, Wax Weasel, Chosen Few, Lenny D, Gizmo, Buzz Fuzz, The Dream Team, Dj Speedfreak and many other Dutch, German, Belgium, Italian and US producers. He was also very influenced by the early releases coming from Rotterdam Records, Mokum, Ruffneck, Terror tracks, Knor or BASICALY anything distributed by Mid Town in Holland.1993 also brought the fascination of spinning. Starting at local house parties and some of the early warehouse break in parties in South Central, East L.A. and Compton area better known as the "Underground Latin Scene" from 1993 to 1997, he was then known as DJ SKIDD after his graffiti name "Skider". Abel has been in following of the Los Angeles hardcore scene and has taken part in it's early development. In 1998 At the time Abel found himself fall into a hole and decided to take a break from the scene and put his DJ'ing on hold. From 1998 to 1999 Abel was silent but after sitting down and thinking of his future goals, Abel decided to let the soil settle and start getting back to what he loves; DJ'ing. In a few months Abel had caught up on all the new faces in the scene, and established his name once again with the help of DJ Menphisto, creator of the "Free Daytime Hardcore gatherings". Finding himself quickly becoming resident to all the Hardcore gathering events and also part of PLANETCORE, Thrugh out the years abel found himself playing along side such great legendary's hardcore dj's as: Ron D Core, Omar Santana, R.A.W, Demigod, Rob Gee, Dj Tron, Delta 9, Delirium, The Horrist, Double d, Menphisto, Mike hemp, Dope-e, sonik and many others great US and european hardcore dj's.Ready to conquer the world with his unique style of mixing, record selection and programing, he has his mind focused on making DJ'ing his one and only profession. In the future he also plans to start working on original tracks of his own and collaborating with many other producers, always inspired by Punk rock, Metal, hip hop, Drum & bass, Techno and many other sounds. Abel has also been knowed in producing small intimate hardcore partys like quasar in 96, Phychosis, DISTORTION 1 & 2, ULTRABASS and EARDAMAGE 1 & 2 a new series of daytime hardcore events. To all the way making memorable dj apperances at LAW & DISORDER 1,2,& 4 Headstrong 4, Nocturnal Wonderland 2004 and many other raves from 1995 -2008. To be continued in 2009.All I can say is this ain't your typical Hardcore. DJay Abel rocks cause he dares to get creative with hardcore and make the usually straight-forward and full on style sound gorgeous and frisky as hell. Highly recommended for those who can stand the heat!DJay Abel. This kid still rocks - hard! In fact, his colossal Los Angeles Hardcore is an ear-bleeding masterpiece, taking that evil, militant pounding that defines this powerful style and keeping it jarringly intense throughout its one-hour running time.DJ perpetrator's "World Of Shit" grabs a handful of great samples from Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket including a pivotal part where Vincent D'Onofrio so boldly states, "There's only one fucking sniper out there." And like that deadly shooter, DJay Abel has his fingers locked on the trigger, itching to pick off as many motherfuckers as possible.Still, even that bloody affair is nothing admirable in comparison to the opening moments of Abel's Audio 909 where an ancient Hitchcock film score gets mixed into a very meticulous gulf of work on DJ Attic & DJ Stylzz' "Emphasis On Hardcore." Gasp, is it true, hardcore can honestly be art? Well, I'll be damned. The bass always creates a wall of suffocation on Audio 909 but this air tight mix has structure and surprises galore. With The Viper & Mad E Fact bad-ass funky "The Beats The Sukers Wish They Had," AC DJ & Bike DJ's double-headed monsters on "Loop Bass" and "Drum Compressor," and DJ Dione's surprising light and dark contrast on "Darkness & Brightness" and those so-sweet vocals against the bombastic territory of "Low Down," this is perhaps Abel's finest mix work. And if you think that's crazy enough to make you rethink all those generalizations about all hardcore being just about the same kind of terrorizing madness, just get an earful of Drum Distortion where Abel pushes the envelope to its gorgeous extreme. If ever one thing could be described as hectic serenity than this riled-up land of peace is that locale.Drum Distortion is in abundance. Hard, invigorating, inspiring and blazingly comforting in all the ways, overall, that makes DJay Abel himself such an unforgettable talent.review by: bill @technopunkmusic.comYes!!! This is some seriously stomping hardcore. The stuff that folks over on mainland Europe listen while eating breakfast. 145 bpms of raw power, with a incessant 909 kick to keep your roll going. But wait, this was recorded in los angeles. Dayum. Being a mid west cat , i didn't know west coasters got down like this. I thought they just listened to wallpaper house and dolphin jungle .Oh yeah , and trance. Lots of trance. This could have just as easily been coming out of Frankie Bone's crate in the storm rave days . So i guess hardcore techno is a lot like metal, it kinda just pops up all over. ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------- Djay abel compiles a stylishly tight hardcore mix that takes risks with samples and melodies to break up the relentlessly pounding beats.when you least expect it, a track Will veer off into a melodic phrase or two before bringing you back to a steady stream of bass lines and drums. Dramatic angelic voices, tweaked out video game samples and the occasional "fuck you" spice up this mix.
