SMALL BIOI’ve been teaching myself arts crafts since I was eight years old; I’ve worked with stone (sandstone and marble) and paints(acrylic and watercolors). My main focus is on charcoals and graphics. I had no professional training . I have always tried tobe competitive with other artist I have seen and met.INSPIRATION I’ve had three teachers who have inspired and helped me, first is Anne Cook who went to mass art; she came to my grammarschool and posted up fliers to any students that would like art to learn art. The classes started with twelve and ended withmyself .I learned a lot of new techniques that I wasn’t learning in school. She was the one who got me in to charcoals .I’mstill using everything she taught me.My sophomore year in high school I had a student teacher named Laura who made me look at my class projects like a competitionbetween me and the rest of the class .Not like most teachers who critique your work at the end of the project, she told us itwas better to critique the work from the beginning to the end, every line and color needed a answer. She said always keep aneye on your follow students, their work can end up making your work stronger. I thought I was doing well until she brought inher high school work, that’s when I realized that I had a long way to go.Last is Ann Carol I only had one class with her a sculpture class. She wasn’t the best teacher but she was the best to talkto. I wasn‘t the only student who cut class to hang out in one of her classes and talked to her when she had time .the lasttime I asked her for advise was about going to art school. I had a friend who went to art school and his work was stiff andhad no life to it and it looked like his style went out the window. She said to me that she thought that I shouldn’t go toschool because sometimes a gifted artist can lose his creativity because some teachers force their styles and ways on theartist. she told me she liked what I’ve done while I was in school and she can’t wait to see what my work will look like inthe future .that wouldn’t happen .the build that she worked in had bad ventilation .The dust build up had made her sick withlupus and she died from it. I lost one of the best advisers I ever had. It’s thanks to these three teachers that I’m more focus on art now each of them taught me for about two months each and I'mstill using what they said and taught me.
