Throughout the past decade, some acts have succeeded in earning the loyalty of country fans with songs about hard work, true grit and sacrifice.
But few artists have lived it.
Emerging to take real country music back to radio, Longstrap owes its sound to such diverse influences as The Eagles, Bruce Springsteen, George Jones, Bill Monroe and Waylon Jennings.
Vocalist Rick Butler recalls “I grew up in a big family on a dairy farm and we all knew Rule 1: No one is going to do the work for you. I’d leave the farm after a 12-14 hour day and perform with my bands all night."
Dan Frizsell has been steadily making a name for himself as a producer/engineer (David Ball, Shannon Lawson, Aaron Tippin, John Corbett) and touring bassist (Sherrie Austin, Shrimp Shack Shooters) but sees that there is a huge void in today’s Country music. “No one is making music for the working man. There’s a whole segment of would-be record buyers being ignored by Nashville.â€
Drummer/Percussionist Milkcrate has been a staple in Nashville’s music scene with a number of performance and recording credits to his name (Neil Schon of Journey, John Corbett, Tiffany). “I came from a strong R&B/Rock background and hadn’t been a fan of Country music in a long time. I felt like it had forgotten its roots. Longstrap is out to correct that.â€
