About Me

If you want to be truly entertained, then come and see a Doughboys show!

The Doughboys are a ‘Gun City’ based Acoustic Duo and is made up of Drew Rivers & Rob Nicholls (After The Rain, Bryter Later)

In 2006 after many drunken nights together joking around about the notion of two portly gentlemen, with Acoustic Guitars, playing an eclectic musical Molotov cocktail of, Southern Country Rock (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steve Earle, Little Feet), Classic Rock (The Doors, Pink Floyd, Guns ‘N’ Roses) and even a bit of Pop thrown into the mix (Eurythmics, Electric Six, Snow Patrol) they both finally became available and began their quest to change peoples views of Acoustic Music.

After very little rehearsing and a lot of expensive booze, Rob & Drew became hell-bent on giving people a good time at almost any cost! Even to point of playing in styles normally reserved for Rock Bands with a full back line, incorporating Guitar Acrobatics, Fretboard Wankery and even disappearing into the audience with their guitars.

As a bonus, when you come to see the Doughboys, you get two acts for the price of one, as Drew likes to spend the first half of the night playing his dubbed title of "Human Jukebox" by playing anything that the crowd want, if he knows it, he WILL play it, no matter what it is! Be it hits from the 60s through to todays crap, though Drew has a particular passion for playing cheese & 80's classics including some of the greats such as Sam Fox, Bon Jovi, Kenny Loggins, Paul Simon, The Sounds of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Blues Brothers and so much more... Buy hey, don't just take their word for it, come and see the show for yourself, sell your kids if need be, you'll be thankful that you did!

If you're looking for great entertainment on a Tuesday night, then come on down to the Open Mic Night at the Speak Easy (formally Fagins) Goldsmith Street in Nottighams City Center. Hosted by the 'Big Daddy Doughboy' himself with the aid of Huw - The devourer of 'Liquid Apples' of General Skullduggery & The Beer Monsters These two powerhouses of the 'unlikely cool' bring you thee best in free entertainment! So come and see some of Nottinghams great unknown talent entertain you, or if you're a musician, singer/songwriter, poet or a comedian, then come be a part of the show... either way, you get a good time guarenteed.
