Lost Tribe

Lost Tribe is a musical collective from northern California consisting of producers Justluv and MLB, and M.C. Agustus Thelefant. The group is a statement of musical, ethnic and cultural diversity.Justluv is an ex-hustler who grew up in Vallejo, and found music to be a positive outlet and alternative to the call of the streets. Agustus Thelefant was raised in the Sierra Foothills, coming from a family of artists and musicians. MLB was in and out of foster care growing up, and despite drug use and early deaths in the family, he managed to rise above his circumstances to become a motivating force in the musical lives of his friends and business partners. Along with an extended musical family of collaborator's and associates, Lost Tribe has set their eyes on redefining the way hip hop is perceived, not only in the Bay Area, but internationally as well.The blueprint of Lost Tribe's music is based upon the original visions of production mastermind Justluv. Beginning with basic computer drum machines, and eventually expanding into keyboards and recording, his sound has evolved into the foundation of a movement that is poised to take the hip hop world by storm. Incorporating atmospheric soundscapes, experimental rhythms, and a sample collection that ranges from 60's soul to world and new age, the instrumentation of Lost Tribe invokes a sound that is classic in it's feel, but futuristic in it's approach. The production team is rounded up by MLB and Agustus Thelefant, who both contribute as well to the sound of the Lost Tribe.Lyrically the group is headed by Agustus Thelefant, who's equally comfortable displaying linguistic worldplay as he is painting pictures of day to day survival, relationships, and the struggle to find one's path in the world. While many rappers today are considered to be either devoid of lyrical substance, or overly boastful and pretentious, Agustus Thelefant manages to be neither. His ability to mix verbal dexterity, emotional insight and an expansive view of the world, result in songs that speak to the core of what we go through as human beings.Members of Lost Tribe's production team have produced tracks for established Bay Area artists (Andre Nickatina, San Quinn, The Mob Figaz), and have recently been contracted to provide a soundtrack for the upcoming Namco Bandai of America game Afro Samurai. They have released one project independently, Agustus Thelefant "Soul Expression", and upcoming plans include Lost Tribe's debut E.P. in late 2007, followed by a full length album to be released in the summer of 2008.
