About Me

If you want to add me message me too!

I really need to update this profile. So in an effort to spur myself on to doing this I've deleted all but the previous and following paragraphs... Radical I know.

I don't read near enough. This is bad. I want to read more but I seem to see my friends too much. One day, I'll decide that reading is more important then seeing friends. I read the Covert Culture Sourcebook when I was a teenager. Everything in it is now the norm, everything in it has come true.

My Interests

The Holy Trinity of...

Laphroaig

Glenmorangie Macallan

Talisker

I'd like to meet:

People who's names i'll remember the next day.

Music:

Yes please!!! Ok, I'll be a little more precise, some stuff I couldn't live without right now. Brainiac, Joy Division, The Sisters Of Mercy, Sonic Youth, Milemarker, The Gossip, Murder City Devils, The KLF. And some bands you should all fall in love with... The Chalets, Popular Workshop, Data Panik, Chinese Stars, JR Ewing, The 586. I think that should be enough to leave you all utterly confused.

Movies:

Pretty much anything which isn't coming out of Holywood (no offence, just that most of it is dross and the quality of films from elsewhere which get over to these shores is infinitely better). I'm becoming especially obsessive about Korean cinema these days, not that that's a bad thing mind you, just a little hard to find people who want to talk about the finer points the movies listed below... Save the Green Planet, Sympathy for Lady Vengence, Bad Guy Nowhere to Run, A Tale of Two Sisters.

Books:

The three books that changed my life: Orientalism, Edward Said. Hidden Agendas, John Pilger. What Is Art, Tolstoy. Other books which helped make me: A Scanner Darkly, Philip K Dick. Neuromancer, William Gibson. The Idiot, Dostoevsky. The Wizard of Earthsea, Ursula le Guin. The Illuminatus Trilogy, Robert Shea and Robert A Wilson.

Heroes:

Voltaire, Gore Vidal, Edward Said, Robert Fisk, John Pilger, and a little known guy called... Hugo Chavez.
