"His music is pure soul...killer guitar playing; out of this world stuff you just don't hear too much these days. Think old blues meets Led Zeppelin meets Jeff Buckley and you get a small idea of the sound he creates. Somehow he manages to pull off a Brasilian song in the mix -- this cats from Jersey? Crazy. Highly recomended." ---A Fan Posting on Amazon.com _______________________________________________
"JD Duvall's "Blood Red Moon" might just be the best indie rock CD I've ever mixed in my many years as a recording engineer in NYC. It's got everything: great songwriting, great playing, great arrangements, and to top it all off, JD's powerful, soaring vocals. His voice has that rarest of qualities; it will pull you irresistibly into his inspired musical world, and you'll love it there. Buy this record."
---Ted Spencer, engineer/producer (David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Johnny Winter, John Mellencamp) ________________________________________________"Dynamic 12-string playing with intriguing harmonics...JD's quasi-orchestral textures suggest Michael Hedges, his aggressive, motoric rhythms recall young Leo Kottke" ---Guitar Player ________________________________________________"Blues slide guitar, Indian raga, pedal steel --The troubadour has travelled the world - from Africa to So Paulo to the Lousiana Bayou - and mastered the mixing of civilizations and color, sometimes all in the same song." ---Media Music USA/MP3 Weekly ________________________________________________ "One could feel that the spirit of Jeff Buckley was alive in JD's voice. This mixed with his Jimmy Page meets Michael Hedges guitar style made for a most unique experience. Tonight at the Cutting Room it became apparent that JD had recently been studying in the school of Robert Johnson's raw blueness. ---Stephen Bailey, Cultural Exchange Advocate, www.stephenbailey.com _________________________________________________
