About Me

Jeffry Adam Valerio-vocals and acoustic
This is a page I wanted to have to remember the band I speant 8 years with. THIS IS NOT REPRESENTING THE CURRENT BAND SHAKEDOWN, THAT HAVE THIER OWN MY SPACE PAGE! Thanks! ~Jeffry First and foremost, this My Space page is to represent the "Shakedown" that was around from 1996-2004. Shakedown is still together, strong, just a new line up. New Lead Singer, New MC, New Dj, New Keyboardist.Shakedown began in 1996, without a vocalist. A dub/rock based band from a small town called "Galt", on the outskirts of Sacramento. Consisting of members: Mikey, Randy, Aaron, Joe, Luke, Aj and Dennis. In the begining of 1997, Jeffry Valerio, who was singing for a rock outfit called "Snapdraggin" joined the group as its lead singer. Aj and Joe departed. In, 1999, while Jeffry was a bartender in Rocklin, he came across a Sax player named DQ, who soon joined the band and fit in musically and mentally well. Over the next 8 years the band went on to share the stage/ tour with such acts as Slightly Stoopid, Papa Roach, Deftones, Cake, Alien Ant Farm, Pink, Kottonmouth Kingz, Long Beach Dub All Stars, Shortbus, Filibuster, Pepper, Fishbone, UB40, the Toys, Oleander, Tiger Army, Bouncing Souls, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Marky Ramone, Bargain Music, Die Trying, Homegown, Limp, Link 80, Punch the Clown, Radioactive of Mike Franti and Spearhead.....and on and on. In the end of 2001, Dennis and Luke left the group to pursue school and family. The band was a fan of a very unknown act called "Daily Struggle" whose singer/ guitar player seemed to be the perfect fit to replace Dennis, and add some harmonies to flow with Jeffry. Shakedown was stronger than ever. Shakedown grew to be known as THE ultimate party band that even missing one show was "shitty" and became a staple in the rock/reggae community, and a marquee Sacto group. The band released 3 full length records and 2 EP's. Playing to sell out crowds on the west coast. The band became a brotherhood, a family. Threw good times, bad times, the band just kept going. In the spring of 2004, Shakedowns single from "Call it What You want", "State of the Nation" was added to the ledgendary BBC playlist in England by the hands of the man, Bob Harris. On November 12th 2004, the original Shakedown, that was at its peak and on the verge of national exposure, played its last show TOGETHER (without even knowing it) at the new Capitol Garage in downtown Sacto. Jeffry started a new project. Life Unit. This particular MySpace page is for those who were down for the "Original" Shakedown. Jeffry has a page here: www.myspace.com/jeffrythedad.Update as of 5/2008: JEFFRY: Jeffry has been writing new songs for almost 4 years and is now getting a band all lined up finally! He has been raising his 3 year old daughter, working and is back in college. AARON: Aaron left Shakedown in December 2006. He still records and writes everyday. He is working full time and living in Elk Grove. RANDY: Randy sadly has disappeared. He got pretty lost in the addictions that almost killed some of the other guys. He is missed, and we pray for the best. MIKEY: Mike is still in the new version of Shakedown. He married Jeffrys ex-wife, Summer and knocked up some other chic and is having a girl. What a winner eh?So, friends......RIP og Shakedown. Life is a trip. Can't take shit with you to the other side, so live life as each day were your last. Holler!
