About Me

updated 8/10/2007
Dan's House Studio is a recording studio in the Lehigh Valley, PA. Since 1997, we've tracked, mixed, and mastered hundreds of projects for artists ranging from total studio newbies to old hacks, and everywhere in between. Rock, jazz, folk, hardcore, punk, blues, cover bands, classical, hip-hop, jam bands - can't think of too many styles that haven't walked through these doors.
Latest projects include the new release Renegade Space Rock , from The Mad Conductor , a collaboration between myself , Dan McKinney (Original Sins, Jim Weider Band) and Chris Tray (No-Cash). Billed on MySpace as "hip-hop/funk/reggae", The Mad Conductor is a cross of ska, hip-hop, studio fun, and whatever Chris and I can dredge up from our collective musical unconsciousness. Currently, the Mad Conductor is listed in the top twenty MySpace bands in the US, for it's genre, which is kind of odd because I still can't quite understand what that genre is...
In the studio now is a talented, young singer/songwriter Amanda Thorpe , working on a full-length collection of songs.
Released in June is Pissed Jeans' latest full-length album Hope For Men , out on the venerable Sub Pop label.
Recently finished is a new album from local legend Steve Brosky , with songs full of typical Brosky-esque pathos and humor, and appearances from the usual suspects. Due out by the end of August!
Also recently finished is a wonderful new album from Tavern Tan , featuring members of the Lehigh Valley's "Hurry Down Sunshine", among others. The album was done with a real live feel in mind, and has a great, organic quality to the sound.
Also in the works is a new John Franklin album, with Jim Weider, Randy Ciarlante, and Mike Camp pitching in as the studio band. Jim and Randy worked, most notably, with The Band for many years, and Jim now fronts his own rarefied instrumental rock/fusion combo Project Percolator .

My old Mackie 24 channel 8 buss mixer has finally been given the boot. I first bought the thing in 1998, and over the years, it's been getting noisier and less reliable. All I'd been using it for in t...

DDT, Pissed Jeans, Original Sins

Just finished up a project for a band called "DDT". Despite what the name suggests, they're not hardcore, but a southern rock band from the Lehigh Valley, whose name is an acronym consisting of the fi...
