Kid Icarus began in 1996 as the musical brainchild of wayward home taper, Eric Schlittler. Over the years Kid Icarus has grown to include a number of collaborators including both friends and fellow musicians. Releasing albums of home baked lo-fi psychedelia and pop maneuvers that recalls the work of such fellow cosmic travelers such as Brother JT, Smog, Robyn Hitchcock, Robert Pollard and Chris Knox, to name a few. At the time of this writing, Kid Icarus has evolved into a full band sporting the talents of Ted Baird, Thad Moyer and Justin Marchgiani, with occasional detours into solo performance.
Aside from handmade cassette releases and compilation appearances, Kid Icarus has released three full length albums on Summersteps Records. The albums are Be My Echo, released in 2002, Maps Of The Saints, released in 2003, and The Metal West, released in 2005. There's also a split EP that was released in 2003 with The Green Chair on Prison Jazz Records.
Kid Icarus are taking their good natured time working on a new album tenatively titled Imaginary Songs and Aluminum Hits, which will most likely be released sometime this year.
This is a charmingly no-budget video for our song "The Murderess." You can find the song on our 2005 effort The Metal West which is available at Summersteps Records along with our other full length releases.
Here are some clips of full band sized Kid Icarus playing live on December 5th 2005 at Test Pattern in Scranton, PA.
