About Me

CHECK OUT ALL MY MUSIC HERE John ClementsNow that I have to put it briefly: I have been playing music my whole life. I compose music digitally, and record my own instrumental parts. I am currently playing a lot of piano, but the guitar and bass are a big part of my composition cycle... I am competent with composition and theory, but prefer to create music intuitively and in a social environment. I studied piano classically for 16 years, attended music college, studied audio engineering and entertainment business, and now I am applying the knowledge and reaching out to put roots in the community around me. I am seeking to publish my music in film, video games, and television, as well as collaborate on the production of albums.I really believe in the power of Music to unite America mentally, particularly hip hop (look at the charts if you doubt me) and that has given me direction in my work at the Boys and Girls Club of Newport County. I teach a program called Young Producers, where teenagers can develop their talent and record using Pro Tools, the industry-standard recording system. I teach them how to use the software, as well as the inner details of the music industry. My goal is to integrate young artists into a local music scene of their own by taking all of the people who have talent and desire and teaching them how to actualize their goals using technology and practice. I am influenced heavily by the philosophies of the early Hip Hop movement, and I am seeking to use the Teen Club to create a teen-driven culture of creativity, positivity, and conscious thought. I will do so by empowering young people with the skills needed to record, perform, promote, design, market, manage, produce, and most importantly, THINK. I am also a certified Pro Tools Operator for Music Recording and Post Production and love to assist on sessions. I will be engineering at a local studio within a month or two, and I am also currently doing multimedia for the Newport Art Museum's lectures and special events, as well as working for an amazing high end lighting and audio company called Ormonde Productions. I stay busy. Teaching at the Boys and Girls Club has been the most rewarding, challenging, and exciting experience of my life so far, and as far as work toward changing the world, this is REAL. This will last lifetimes beyond mine. It has been so rewarding watching the talent and intelligence of all the amazing young men and women I work with come out when presented with opportunity to be expressed objectively. During the ages of 13-18, people are constantly seeking to define themselves. If they are given the opportunity to express their individuality through the arts, they find focus and definition that can help them survive as an adolescent in today's consumer wasteland. When the creative energies of youth are stifled, young people suffer from a lack of self-actualization. From my own personal experience, motivation is often a result of exposure to new perspectives. At the Boys and Girls Club, I have been devoting my energy to bringing young people into music and art, using whatever medium or method they are most comfortable with. I also care deeply about teaching them to use the technologies necessary for success in today's business environment, as well introducing them to self-education resources on the internet. I think that especially for those who do not have big bank to spend on college, it is important to be able to prove your worth by showing natural talent and learned skills, so when that scholarship comes, it is used well.Eventually, I hope to work with the the young people of the Boys and Girls Club to create a promotional company for teen events in Newport County and New England, as well as a non-profit recording studio/label out of the club. We are also working on a program which will provide family technology education lessons and affordable access to refurbished corporate-donation PCs. I feel blessed every day to be able to educate and collaborate with these talented, driven young people and to create, be inspired, and learn together.I will be posting my original compositions as I finish them, so please have a listen. If you are interested in licensing this music for film, tv, or vidgames, please contact me. I would love to write a full score or a set of themes, and have a full function home studio to work with. I am working for a professional grade music studio called SoundFirm, and I will be engineering there and getting far more serious about my music career in the close future. If you are an old friend and we haven't spoken for a while, please get in touch --- esp. if you are doing any creative work. I am really interested in collaborating on film, animation, or any post-production work, as well as recording/producing acts. Let me know if I can be of any service... or if we haven't spoken in a while, hit me up, I miss many friends....
