About Me

Dreams come in all shapes, sizes and are born in many places. The smallest state in the union, Rhode Island, is home to the next thing in R&B, up and coming artist Shane Lee. Shane Lee was born March 3, 1987 and was raised on the streets of South Providence. Growing up in Providence, he would sing where ever he could. Singing on the block, on the back of city buses and in every local or regional show, Shane Lee sang to whoever would listen. He is a young singer with an old soul, which is reflected in his unique singing style that blends between contemporary pop, R&B and Jazz. With a strong voice and smooth sound, his talent is gaining attention fast.Shane Lee’s talent was first discovered at age 7, during a Thanksgiving celebration, when he sang a song he learned in elementary school. His family recognized his gift and encouraged him to sing on. Since then Shane has been honing his voice and defining his style. He is influenced by some of the legends in Soul music like, Marvin Gaye, Stevie wonder and Teddy Pendergrass, to more contemporary artist like Brian Mcknight, Michael Jackson, and R. Kelly. Shane Lee was raised by his aunt due to his mother’s death and father’s absence, which means he has a story to tell, but he would much rather sing it. He wants to sing to, and for the everyday people. If he is able to make a difference in their day through his music, to him that’s mission accomplished. With the support of his Who Dem?/Mandatory Entertainment team, with whom he connected with in 2006 during his rounds of the local music scene in Providence, Shane Lee is ready to share his gift with the world. Shane Lee has many dreams, and he’s planning to sing them true.

Influences: my mother was and still is a great influence to me. after she died singing was a way for me to cope with my pain which put so much more feeling into my voice.my family always supports me and tells me to pursue my singing dreams, so big ups to the Lee family. also my listeners and fans show mad love everytime i start to sing. so thanks and much love to them.todays mainstream influences would be R.Kelly, Brian Mcknight, and Carl Thomas.Definitly old school has influenced me like the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Jackson fives, Comodores, Eugene Wilde, Gerald Levert Duke ellington, chaka khan, and Ella Fitzgerald
Sounds Like: I sound like nobody but myself, Shane Lee, but if you had to compare me i would say R.Kelly and Brian Mcknight for singers now and Stevie Wonder, or Eugene Wilde for singers back then.
