iconoclast: One who attacks and seeks to overthrow traditional or popular ideas or institutions.
Iconoclast is all about originality and redefining traditional conceptions of what constitutes a song. They deliver powerful and poetic lyrics supported by driving, melodic, and original musical arrangements. Iconoclast accomplishes this by using combinations & adaptations of each members vastly different musical background to add new dimensions to their sound.
Iconoclast formed in May 2002 when the members met through mutual friends and have since turned the waves it has been making in Ottawa's burgeoning alternative rock scene into a tsunami of recognition. (The Algonquin Times April 2, 2004)
For Iconoclast, the live show is the thing. Their high-energy and interactive live performances have been described as escalating rock mayhem (Ottawa Citizen - June 8, 2006) and greatly reflect the intensity of their music.
Their first release (Home EP, recorded at Audio Valley Studio (www.audiovalley.ca) and released June 10, 2006) has been met with critical acclaim and has become hugely successful with their ever-growing fan base.
Iconoclast is currently working towards the release of a full length album, while touring in Ontario and Quebec.
