Robb Kerr

About Me

Born in the Ottawa Valley, then growing up in Ottawa, and immediately submersed in music, Robbs father, John Kerr, was an accomplishedacoustic guitarist and vocalist. When Robb was 6 years old, he received a toy keyboard for Christmas and immediately took to it; within the first year he had learn several pieces by ear, including Fleur d'Elise and Mike Oldfield`s "Tubular Bells".Robb learned at a young age the trials of life and found solace in playing music and it quickly became an addiction, playing some days as much as 4 hours before the age of 10. Robb was offered the lead role in the choir for a few years growing up and embraced the new found fame and had a great teacher who saw his talent and pushed him to follow music at whatever level in his life.
Although Robb had played a little bit of guitar before he really picked it up when he was 16 and immediately went full time on it, playing from 6 to 8 hours a day writing and learning new music. After playing and writing for a few years,at the age of 20 Robb started working full time in the Ottawa music scene with former project, "Jessib" an acoustic duet which had great reviews but sadly Jessib had a tragedy and Robb`s bandmate, Christian Leferve, after struggling with addictions, passed away after just a couple of years. Already with about 100 songs under his belt Robb started the rock band "Kerr" and immediately started performing local shows, and recording. All good things must come to an end though and Robb left to play acoustic shows. Taking a few years to focus on vocals and acoustic guitar, Robb hosted many open mic nights and several acoustic solo shows in the Ottawa area. Robb was approached by the band Silver who had recently lost their singer and was asked to join, he accepted and they immediately went into the studio and recorded the title track (Escape) for Primal film`s award winning movie "Zombie Night" After a year with Silver, Robb left and went on to pursue bigger and better things and found himself working in the industry full time as a stage hand for some names such as, Finger eleven, eve six, treble charger and David Wilcox to name just a few. While working with the bands, it just made Robb want it even more. Robb moved to Toronto and started playing the scene there and played some great shows including a sold out show in Barrie Ontario in front of 1000 people and playing some of Toronto`s great live venues. After 5 years in Toronto Robb returned to the Ottawa area working in a few local recording studios while building his own studio and recording and writing his latest album and is looking at a Christmas 2007 world wide release.

Like the lyrics in his songs, Robb Kerr embodies a passionate depth that pulls you under and drags you into his world. He takes you on a journey through his own experiences yet somehow manages to relate to your own. With more than 10 years of performance under his belt and a catalogue of 150+ songs, Robb Kerr is in the music business to stay. Kerr is no stranger to large audiences, but blooms in the smaller setting as he lights his guitar on fire with intricate licks and a haunting melody that sets up camp inside your brain
