About Me

the clock (thom yorke)
time is running out for us
but you just move the hands upon the clock
you throw coins in a wishing well
wake up
you just move your hands upon the clock
it comes to you begging you to stop
wake up
but you just move your hands upon the clock
throw coins in a wishing well for us
you make believe that you are still in charge

in october of 2003, i moved from alexandria, va; a dc suburb to the ukrainian village. i love chicago and find more reasons to love it every day. music is my everything. i am an alphabetizer and a cataloger. i have a few tattoos. i love my boo, zachary. i enjoy making food and i love going out to restaurants. i like to write about food, so i am addicted to yelp.com . i try to support independent business over corporate business as often as i can. i work door, update web stuff, and book the occasional show at south union arts . when i am there, i like to doodle. joe letke made this video flipping through some doodles of mine:
I laughed for a world filled with voices from rien_mer and Vimeo .
i have a wee craft company called rhymes with twee . you can find my stuff on etsy:

i deny friendship requests from friend collectors. you can believe it or not, but i actually know 95% of the people on my friend's list in real life, or they are people i have known heaps of years online. however, if you are in love with living, then i'd probably like to know you. my aim name is madflowr.
i can't update my currently listening to often enough, but i keep a list of shows i have been to and shows i plan on going to here . i set up an event back in arlington, va (and someday in chicago) called make-out party .
two songs that i wrote and sang with gavin conner under the name my_old_sunsets in 2004 are here . i decided i needed a new moniker for making music and i decided on the secret scene (nothing up there yet), because one of my favorite things is being surprised with a secret scene after a film's credits. the plan was to release a split with gavin conner in 2006 on diver city records, but i have been making crafts not music lately.
if you are the kind of person that likes hearing new music, here are some of my favorite bands/singers with songs you can listen to on myspace: aarktica , airiel , alcian blue , jason anderson , meredith bragg and the terminals , carol bui , laura burhenn , thebrotherkite , certainly, sir , come down , a cricket in times square , the deathray davies , decibully , julie doiron , dressy bessy , eiffel tower , jeremy enigk , the fake fictions , figurine , georgie james , glissade , jim guthrie , neil halstead , headlights , the hold steady , i am robot and proud , damien jurado , the kamikaze hearts , kris racer , the l'il hospital , macro , mahogany , maserati , matt pond pa , the maybellines , mc copulation , mess up the mess , the metal hearts , metropolitan , the narrator , owen , paper cuts (uk), the prayers and tears of arthur digby sellers , the radio dept. , rainer maria , rocketship , the salteens , seabear , shumai , the smittens , the snow fairies , snowden , sprites , strand of oaks , the thermals , and trembling blue stars .
