Did you know?: ~Matthew's character in "The Producers" is called Leopold Bloom, and at one point he asks, "When will it be Bloomsday?" The line refers to James Joyce's novel "Ulysses," whose hero is also called Leopold Bloom. Fans of the book - which unfolds during the course of one day, June 16 - celebrate the date as "Bloomsday."~Matthew knows by heart the whole 2000 year old man routine that Mel Brooks wrote.~Matthew was one of celebrities trained by Radu, who was dubbed the "Toughest Trainer in Town" by New York Magazine, at his New York gym.~When Kenneth Lonergan (director of "You Can Count on Me") was a junior at Walden, the upper West Side progressive school, his drama teacher, Bruce Cornwall, asked him to collaborate on a play, which starred his close friend Matthew Broderick.Flixster - Share Movies~Matthew Broderick plays Godzilla's writer-producer Dean Devlin - sort of. When Devlin was an actor ("Real Genius", "L.A. Law"), he often competed against Broderick for parts. The two look young for their age and share mannerisms. He performs this same function in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.~The scene in WarGames where Matthew is picked up by the FBI was filmed at 7Eleven in Big Bear, CA.~The studio of WarGames had a Galaga and a Galaxian machine delivered to his home, where Matthew practiced for two months to prepare for the arcade scene.~The role of Alex P. Keaton in Family Ties (1982) was to be played by Matthew, but he decided against being committed to a weekly television series.~While at Walden School, Matthew performed in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Black Comedy," "A Doll's House" and "The Threepenny Opera." In addition, he has appeared in a guest-starring role on television's "Lou Grant".~Matthew is allergic to horses. (Maybe that is why one threw me off and caused a break in my collarbone in Donegal ~ He sensed my 'allergic fear'~Matthew is left-handed.
