Nicholas Kim Coppola, nephew to Francis Ford Coppola and Talia Shire, was born January 7, 1964 in Long Beach California.Is brother to Marc and Christopher Coppola. He changed his name to Nicolas Cage early in his career to make his own reputational name instead of becoming known for his Coppola roots. He took the name Cage from a comic book hero, Luke Cage.
Nick had dropped out of high school to secure a role in the movie, Fast Times At Ridgemont High. But his hopes of becoming an inspiring actor was dwindling as most of his part was cut.
He began selling popcorn at the Fairfax Theater thinking that would be his only link to the movie business.
His big break actually happened in 1983. Nick was helping auditioners read lines for Rumble Fish which in turn landed hisself a role. It also landed him the role of a punk rocker in Valley Girl. Valley Girl was released before Rumble Fish and indeed became the movie that started it all for Nicolas Cage.
The acting career of Nicolas Cage is now officially launched.In 1992,(while in a lengthy relationship with model Christine Fulton), Nicolas' first son, Weston Coppola Cage was born.
Now all grown up, Weston is on the road pursuing his own career in acting.July 30, 2004, Nicolas Cage and Alice Kim were married. At the time they met, she was working as a waitress in a sushi bar and married soon after.
The couple remains married today and have one child together. Named after the birth name of Superman, Nicolas' second son, Kal-el Coppola Cage, was born October 3, 2005.
