Instantly he was hooked and very curious to learn more about this type of music and were it came from. He then finds out of a chef at work that he selling his old decks, so the same day buys a pair of Belt Drive TT1500 decks and a Numark dm905 mixer for £80 (Probably the worse decks around :p ) The 1st record he purchased was Ebony dubs Ra only having one tune he would constantly play it and try mixing the old records lying around the house. After getting sick to death of playing just one tune and not being able to do anything with the other records, He takes his first trip to a record shop this was Twister Records in Brierley hill. His passion for buying records really kicked off in about 2004 going up every week listening and buying as many tunes has he could. In late 2004 twister records shut down due to lack of sales, Not knowing where to turn he asks around where u can buy tunes from locally, he gets told Tempest records in Birmingham. Since the age of 16 he has shopped there and still does to this day As the months go on and the mixing progresses Noize starts recording his sets on 2 tape and giving them out to his friends. After the 2nd mix tape there was a high demand for his mixes from around his area and at school. This is when he starts to mass duplicate the tapes and sell them at school and out and about to freinds and to people who were feeling his stuff, This continued thru his last years at school and over the summer holidays afterwards. After finishing school Noize goes straight into a 1 year music tech course at kidderminster college this was a small look into production and the industry side of the music scene, about two thirds into the couse Noize gets his set of 1210s which he has been saving up for since the start of the year (one new deck and one Ex demo from HTFR). After graduating this course he decides to continue his education taking a 2 year Btech music course going deeper into the industry and studio work. Noize runs a night called "Noisy Stylus" which have being doing small nights since February 2007, watch this space for more parties Now at Autumn 2007 Noize is making a big name himself as an upcoming DJ getting bookings all over the midlands and the surrounding areas, promoting himself with quality demo Cd's and using the Internet to his advantage Some events/Radio Noize has played at: Noisy Stylus - Raveology - Musik Hertz - Dilated City - Midlands Underground - Urban Fury - Bassland-Ltd - Ignition - High Voltage - Playtime -------- PlanetDnb - XposeFM .. NOISY STYLUS
PHAZER's love of music started at an early age. so young he wasn't able to get into a club or rave, so listening to pirate stations and tape packs was as good as it got! although open-minded to all music it was rave, hardcore and early jungle which appealed the most. Listening at every opportunity the music and the crowd blowing whistles and horns-PHAZER wanted that 'buzz' of being a DJ and entertaining people. Before long he had his first encounter of mixing round a friends house and was addicted overnight! It took time to get the basic concept of beat matching but having drumming experience did help. He decided to purchase his own decks and mixer to try and master this new found hobby. Once getting to a better standard PHAZER decided to try another concept which he found made him stand out from the others..Scratching. Many DJs had inspired him but none more than the DJ HYPE. Hours of listening and using trial and error methods on the decks PHAZER gradually began to learn and teach himself how to scratch. Using this method and beat matching he recorded tapes to monitor his progress and try to better it next time. PHAZER's official year of becoming a DJ was 1995. It was from then he first played out at a local youth club event. An older crowd had turned up that night and some took a shine to PHAZER and it was the same people he later met up with and progressed further. He moved up from youth clubs and began playing on various pirate stations. Confidence grew and so did his name and PHAZER started playing out at local clubs. Firstly, it was under 18 events ZERO 6 and ADLIB. Next was the chance to play at the legendary OSCARS, CLACTON PIER given by DJ LENNOX. PHAZER was meeting various MC's and DJ's and over the following years he progressed, felt confident and most of all enjoyed DJing. PHAZER went on to play at various clubs and bars across Essex and London and among his favorites were CLUB LIME, ZERO 6 and his residency at BAR CENTRAL , ZINC and PALACE HOTEL at which he held his own nights at some and brought many good times. From 1995 to 2005 PHAZER had mixed both drum and bass and UK garage meeting and playing with many big names including DJ PROBE, DJ SINSTER, DJ FRENZIC,DJ SHODAN, MASTERSTEPZ, RUFF'CUT'LLOYD, RAY HURLEY, SO SOLID CREW, PIED PIPER, SCOTT GARCIA MC's FATMAN D, KIE, DT, ROMEO and HARVEY and many more. During this time PHAZER also went on to win local DJ competitions and represent a record shop on their hosted nights. Where now?.. At present PHAZER is playing drum and bass along side the highly rated MC RIVAL and recently funky and electro house. Recently he was put through to the SOUTH REGION CORONA FINALS but due to holiday commitments was unable to attend so will be looking to enter the competition next year. He is currently producing his own music which so far have been hits with the crowd at clubs and radio. PHAZER is learning all of the time in both DJing and producing and wishes to progress even further. He is a resident of different nights at present and enjoying every minute but looking to always take the next big step. PHAZER is a DJ who likes to experiment using different cutting, mixing and scratching techniques. He is a crowd pleaser who enjoys entertaining and is looking forward to take his DJing and production to the next level.
Raw theory consists of two drum n bass dj’s from Stourbridge in the west midlands, laze (Tim Smith) and dash (Ash Lamb). The duo first crossed paths 4 years ago when, not knowing each other, they enrolled on a music technology course. Being like minded they got on easily, became pals and regularly went round each others houses and rinsed out the chaotic sounds of dnb. Once the course was over, laze and dash saw little of each other and occasionally crossed paths at local dnb nights in the area. The scene in Stourbridge slowly died and gradually the lads lost contact and they went their separate ways doing bits of djing where they could. It was only up until 3 years later, when myspace came on the scene that the lads found each other again and they had been busy producing tracks in their bedroom. Liking what each other were doing the lads started to bond again immediately. Dash had also started his own dnb/electro night High Voltage in Wordsley, getting down names such as The Force, CKB, Allgood and Biglove, whilst laze picked up a residency at Diskconnected in Birmingham. Anyway, Laze was invited by Dash to come down and play a set at High Voltage, and realising that they played the same style as each other (a mixture of everything) gradually they started playing back to back and also started to produce some heavy tunes that were getting noticed and played by more than a few dj’s on the circuit. Its still early days for the lads, but if u get the chance to listen to Raw Theory, u’ll clearly see that they are an act to look out for. The future is looking bright and now that they have joined aftershockradio, the whole world can listen to what a talented drum n bass collaboration these two young hopefuls really are.WATCH THIS SPACEMONDAYS 9 - 11 PM/GMT+1 - WWW.AFTERSHOCKRADIO.COMwww.myspace.com/dnbdjdashwww.myspace. com/djlazednbwww.myspace.com/highvoltagepromo
