History The Dove Stones was started by Gregg Holdrich ( Guitarist) In the late end of 2006 he found himself talking to Richard brother of Duddz in a local bar. Gregg had hung his guitar up after finishing playing with quite a successful local band called The Union that had gone the way of so many bands before it and disbanded due to the usual differences. Gregg wanted to carry on playing and so decided to contact Duddz who used to play/sing for another successful local band called Kane. Initial interest from Duddz was not good as he hadn’t played in a band for a while and had kind of thrown his energies into other things by this time. However Gregg was persistent and talked Duddz round using the usual amount of alcohol.Ok so there were 2 members now they needed a bass player and a drummer. Gregg already had an idea who he wanted as a bass player. His old bass player from The Union. So in stepped Darren “Daz†Cyprus bass player extraordinary. Darren has a knack of hearing something once then being able to play it note for note which can get a little frustrating for mere mortals. So all we need now to complete the line up is a drummer and we all know how hard it is to find a drummer who is dependable and sane,(?). Darren said there was only one drummer as far as he was concerned but he already played for 4 other bands and would probably be too busy to play for us. We hatched a plan to get Kitch down to a rehearsal saying we just needed a stand in drummer while we found a full time one as we knew he was too busy to join us full time. Darren was confident that once he played with us then he would join us and he was right. So The Dove Stones were complete. Duddz vocals and Guitar. Gregg Guitar and Backing vocals. Daz Bass Backing vocals and whatever else he likes and Kitch Drums. The initial gigs were all covers and the band was really just for fun getting together every few weeks to learn a new cover to play. However it was starting to get a bit of a following locally and they all decided it would be great to start to play a few of their own songs. Duddz had a few songs he had wrote and the band tried them out at a few local gigs. The songs went well and people started to ask where they could get the songs from. It was decided to do a mini EP very low budget with a recording live at the rehearsal room. The cd sold out at the gigs much to excitement of the band. At this point things started to get a little strange as when we played we would watch people singing along to our tunes which made us feel fantastic. The Dove Stones were still only playing for fun however Duddz had started his writing again and frequently sent texts out to the rest of the band at silly o ‘clock in the morning letting them know he had completed another song.A change of pace A blast from the past and the Kane days came along, German Martin. Duddz used to go with his old band Kane to Germany to play and Martin who used to do the promotion was having a big get together with old friends and was inviting Kane to reform to play at his party in Germany. All Kane initially said yes but as the date grew closer most dropped out and the members of The Dove Stones agreed to take their place and learn the Kane tunes. Darren did his usual of listening to it once and playing it perfect while the rest of us struggled to learn all the songs. The party went well and friendships reunited and Martin started to show an interest in The Dove Stones. We sent him the low budget EP we had done and he liked it and asked if we would be interested in doing a tour in the summer of 08. The plan was to get an album written and recorded and then head over to Germany for the tour. It was always going to be close as we only had the EP and we would need to write the songs record them and package them inside 3 months for the promotion before the tour. Remembering we all worked and only got together once a week. Luckily for us the gigs didn’t come in and Martin decided it wasn’t worth us going over as the venues he felt were not up to what he wanted for us so he cancelled the tour. We all breathed a sigh of relief. We had been busy writing for the album and had managed to get 12 songs finished but not recorded. Martin had come over from Germany for a party we were throwing and he came up to the rehearsal room to have a listen to the new songs. He loved them and asked us to record them asap. He flew out the next morning and was quickly back on the phone having made contact with a promoter Schoko Music www.schoko-music.de who could get us the bigger gigs in the cities like Hamburg and Dusseldorf. The promoter loved the songs and decided to set a tour up at the beginning of 09.The Dove Stones are at present very excited and busy writing and recording the new album which will be finished for July. They also have a new web site at www.thedovestones.de where you can keep up with the latest news and would really like to thank all the people who come and support them.TDS find it difficult as do most bands to pigeon hole their music into a type/style so we will leave that to the people who can do that best You.Many thanks and we hope you like the music.Walk AwayAdd to My Profile | More Videos
