Hi Everyone and thank you for stopping by.
This is my site that features my double bass playing. I started playing double bass in College (Sonoma State University) in California in 1990. I studied with Mel Graves. I went to school there for 2 semesters and then left to pursue my career in music. My parents bought me my first box of busines cards and told me to go for it. If it wasn't for them I would not be doing this. I started gigging around the San Francisco bay area and played with so many wonderful musicians (Paul Hanson, Orestes Vilato, Darol Anger, Mike Marshal, Pete Escocvedo, Sheila E., Marcos Silva, Joel Harrison, Jack Perla, Steve Smith and many others).
My friends Rob Ickes and Victor Wooten started dropping hints that I should check out Nashville. I did.....liked it........and moved to Nashville in November of 1999. Through Victor I met Jeff Coffin, recorded 2 CD's and gigged a lot with him. That led to 2 years with Nickel Creek, 2 years with the Jerry Douglas band and a year with Grease Factor. At the end of 2004 Cirque du Soleil asked if I was interested in working with them for the show KA in Las Vegas. I have been playing double bass and bass guitar on the show ever since and loving every minute of it.
Thanks again for your interest. I hope you enjoy the music. I thank the Lord Jesus for my abilities because they all come from him. If you take anything away from this site my hope is that you remember that Jesus loves you and died on the cross to save you from sin. He will accept you no matter where you are in your life and make you a new creation. All that is needed from you is to ask Christ to come into your heart and forgive you of your sins.
May God Bless you today,
Derek
