The Rulers

About Me

“The Rulers” are a rock band from Richmond, VA. After the demise of “The Orphans” (voted best band in Phoenix, Arizona), Noah DeRule took his song writing skills to the east coast where he would meet with other local musicians including Brian Duffy (drums), Jeff McGall (guitar), and newest member- former Four Stories bassist Alex Smith. Quickly the band strung together melodic and adrenaline-fueled hits such as “Caroline”, "Ramones", "World I Left Behind” and “It Won’t Be You”. Only playing shows since fall of 06’ the band has already won crowds over at some of the areas most recognized venues like Alley Katz, The Canal Club, Rocks, Wonderland, Poe’s Pub and even a trip out to Hollywood, CA as part of the I.P.O. Festival. The band has had songs featured on several compilation CD's, Appeared on MTV2, and opened or played with members of the Goo Goo Dolls, River City High, Material Issue, The Parasites, Get up Kids, Rancid, Fastball, Old 97s, Gin Blossoms, the Refreshments, Urge Overkill, Semisonic, and many others. We are currently taking a break from playing out to record a new batch of songs. We're really exited about them, and we'll post them when they are finished.Rulers at VCU
