About Me

New Page 1Greg Duthie a.k.a Gr uvRegulator (pronounced GrOOve-Regulator) has been getting his groove on to electronic music since the early 90s; and it was only natural that he would pick up DJing as a hobby. He's been spinning records since the start of the millennium and has recently started to focus on DJing in a professional capacity. He has exhibited his talents at various outdoor venues, private parties and one night exclusives in the Northern Virginia area. In 2004 he brought his extraordinary talents to DC, and has earned a resident DJ/promoter position as well as a successful weekly party called ' TSUNAMI TSUNDAYS ' at a vibrant hotspot, Sango Sho @ Café Japone, located just off of Dupont Circle in Northwest. GruvRegulator can be found spinning there on a monthly residency along with Shaft XXL and Ken Lazee.

His style spans the Tribal, Progressive, House, and Electro genres. Recently he has made a complete conversion to CDs and Electro. He draws his inspiration from a wide variety of music culture and traditions, with particular influence from such established DJ’s as John Digweed, Chus and Ceballos, Deep Dish, Peace Division, H-Foundation, Steve Lawler, Underworld, Danny Howells, Lexicon Avenue, King Unique, Darren Emerson, Fatboy Slim and Satoshi Tomiie.

His plans for the future are to rock dancefloors across the DC/Metro Area; and bring his own unique sound to a wider audience. Be sure to keep an eye out for this ambitious new DJ talent whose unique, organic, progressive, electro sound will groove you to your soul!

Influences: John Digweed, Danny Teneglia, Steve Lawler, Satoshii Tomiie, Peace Division, Deep Dish, H-Foundation, Underworld, Danny Howells, Lexicon Avenue, King Unique, Darren Emerson, Fatboy Slim. New Electro influences include Coburn; BSOD; and Hoxton Whores.
Sounds Like: The previous sound was progressive tribal house; deep and groovin' basslines with a hint of trance and alot of handdrums. From Spain to the UK to the US; it's a world tour of deep dark tribal beats!!The NEW sound is ELECTRO!!! I've decided to go in an entirely diffrent direction with something MUCH harder and funkier than what I have played in the past. From Bleeps to Blurps; to psuedo house/breaks; the new sound is a rollercoaster ride of driving beats and synthed-out tunage. Be sure to check out my tunes as they are a small slice of what I'm playing currently.
