The Nekronotz have played damn near everywhere they could get into and have shared bills with bands such as KOFFIN KATS, ZOMBIE GHOST TRAIN, PHANTOM ROCKERS, THE CREEPSHOW, STELLAR CORPSES, THE PHENOMENAUTS, THE ROCKETZ, KAT KILLERS & THE TOASTERS. And, in 2008, The ’Notz got the honor of playing with no other than THE METEORS!!!
THE NEKRONOTZ BIO:
Starting as a weird dream in a little town in Oregon back in 2002, The Nekronotz quickly grew into something that not even practice room walls could hold in. Call it punk, psychobilly, rock, noise or what ever you wish- either way, it’s hard to deny that the music you hear strait up rocks. With Cutlip Nekronot on Guitar and Vox wailin’ away and jumping around bringin’ his unique old school sound, Luigi Von Skum on the Electrified Bass Beast beatin away and defying gravity, and Rev. Tommy Gunn aka The Wonder from Down Under (Vegas, that is!) beating the skins at the speed of light while invading your mind, The Nekronotz have lived up to their reputation as being one of the most fun and energetic live shows around and indeed ’putting the FUN back in FUNERAL’!!!
Frontman Cutlip Nekronot explains- "The Nekronotz were formed back in 2002, under a different name mind you, as a really bad way of trying to impress some chick I had been dating. Needless to say, she wasn’t that great . . . but the music was. People really liked it so I kept it goin’. Hell, I even liked it too. It was what I wanted to do since I was a little kid. Writing came natural to me, and everything I wrote was in the classic 3 or 4 cord set ups with kinda a ’tongue in cheek’ look at life and music of today.
The facepaint and costumes??? WELLLLLLLLLL, I was under 21 for a little part of my career back in the day. I was playing bars and clubs and havin’ a ball under the old name, well, one day I got caught and kicked out. Being near Halloween and wanting to play more than anything, I decided to go with my original idea of wearing face paint and costumes and try to be sneaky. I went out to my car and painted my face to look like a cartoonish ghost and put on a suite. I walked back into the club and told them The Nekronotz, which was the only name I could think of at the time, were here to fill in for the band who they cancelled. The bouncer, who to this day I still claim was high or something, didn’t notice me and said he didn’t remember a band being called but said his boss prolly called then told us to load in, so we re-loaded in our stuff and played as The Nekronotz. Needless to say, the club never caught on. The show after that, we performed and people asked where our cool costumes were. Oops. So behold the birth of me as Cutlip Nekronot and the birth of The Nekronotz. Later on, due to member problems, the costumes and stage show was pretty much ditched, which was really too bad. Then finally, in early 2007, we said screw it and brought back the costumes, facepaint, and rockin stage show because honestly, that is what The Nekronotz are- an entertaining live show!!! The members at the time were threatening to leave and so I took them up on their offer . . . and have never regretted it since!!! Our shows are meant to be an outlet for the world. We want every person to come and be equal. We want it to be a place away from politics and life . . . a place where a person can come excape life and rock for an hour or so and feel f*ckin’ awesome!!!
The band has went through some line-up changes through time, as most bands do, but it only made us grow musically and go upwards!!! The fact that my band mates Rev. Tommy Gunn and Luigi Von Skum are also my friends has really made things go a lot farther too. But yeah, we’re all about having fun and making the audience have fun and get their moneys worth- enough of the paying $10 bucks to see another stereotypical band and have everyone stand there. God dangit people, lets have some fun!!!’
The Nekronotz also are proud to team up with CREEPIN’ GEOFF PHOTOGRAPHY for all their media needs on the road!!! HE ROCKS!!!Interested in Merch??? Contact us and we’ll do our best to hook ya’ up.
