DR EGGS is more than a band, it’s a concept.
Introducing Joul, the indisputable leader of the group, the Dr created his formation in 1997 and DR. EGGS played their first gig just after two months of existence. The members of the band were only 16 and 17 years old at that time.
Within their first year, DR EGGS produced a 6-track tape sampler which meant they could play in every possible place in Montpellier, France.
The Machine had started!!!
DR.EGGS launched their first demo cd in 1998. It had massive success and launched DR EGGS onto some of the most prestigious stages , some reflected on them as Burning Heads or Liberators.
Every gig they played at they brought with them their procession of fans !!!That's in fact everyone from their High School, “Lycée Clémenceau”.
In 2000, came out with as co-producer. This release, made of Ska tendencies, brought the Doc to play with some of the most trendy bands of this fresh french ska scene ( Spook and the guays, RWMS, Kargols, Babylone Circus, Maximum Kouette...). It was the start of a nice series of concerts all around France and also in Switzerland, England, Belgium and in 50 jails in France to give a support to their prisoners. (Always in an underground way without any manager or promoter).
In the meantime, Dr Eggs changed its musical line , fed-up with this enormous Ska-Punk wave and above all frustrated of being so attached to it, so much that they could not play something else.
From this radical change, they built up their first full album, with the support of which was in charge of the co-production and with the distribution all around France. In June 2003, DR EGGS hit their first studio sessions. This painful experience was very fascinating and allowed the band to move on to another direction with an all new album.
, released in February 2004 , left no none indifferent! The Tour , that followed this album, had a good welcoming from first the public and also from all the actors in the French music scene as .
This exhausting tour was ended after 116 days all around Europe. Since then, DR EGGS had played 350 times in France, and they have a bitter look on the French music scene . Before being very fed-up with it, Joul decide to export the project to Hong Kong, to conquer Asia, enjoy time on the road again with a new branch and new fresh environment!
After 1 year of travel around Asia, Joul decided to build with Hong Kong musicians starting from the end of 2005.
This is where the second part of the history of DR.EGGS took its place! They participated in Hong Kong band competitions and music festivals and had a great success in Hong Kong ( they got the champion in Warehouse Band Competition 2006, they werechosen to perform on Rock It 2006 main stage and, they also entered the final round of YAMAHA Asian Beat 2006 (HK division). All the current success really solidified Dr. EGGS’s music within the HK music industry, their music was like a storm in the market . The duration of the project was at least only 4 months.
Oddly, after 12 gigs, he chose to destroy this project but not without an idea in mind. Hence, DR.EGGS is not “national” but a 100% international and invites different musicians from around the world to come and take part of the project.
Summer 2007, the Doc is back in studio with an internationnal team and recording songs for the international market. ( maybe a dedication to the common points with Axel Rose and the Hong kong counterfeit goods) is the name of this free of charge EP (internet) which advertise a future album with more Rock than Fusion tinged with Electronic music.
The EP also contains 2 videos edited by Joul with a restrospective of the “Hong Kong experience”and footage of the recording studio. It is also the first CD released with its own label created in the same period.
A big tour is scheduled around the world in September 2008. Europe and Asia are on the target. At the same time, a second full album will be on the way…and also be around the world.
