Double Helix

Double Helix, aka Florian, started to produce drum & bass in 2005. Music was always a big part of his life. He was banned with the dark and spherical sides of electronic music, especially drum & bass. The idea of making such powerful and mystic music did not let him go. So he started to produce. The journey into the world of sounds started and became an obsession. “With every new step of understanding and feeling the music another door opens, other possibilities and ways appearing.”
“For me it is difficult to say when a song is finished, because five weeks later you have a lot of new experiences, impressions or technical understandings that you would never stop to work out on it. So for me as an artist, you must get to that point, that you say this is finished and I will present it, no matter how good it will be when your understanding has become better. So I get my own page on myspace!”

The Journey
My present project is an one year journey all the way through Europe. I will spend the winter in Portugal and Spain. In spring my destination will be Great Britain, Ireland, and later on the Scandinavian countries. My vehicle is a VW-bus, which I adapted to my needs for a motorhome, and for composing and playing music. As you can see on the pictures, I built a little mobile studio. It does not have the quality and the timeless feeling of a studio in a dark basement room, because every electric tool depends on a board battery, but it is mobile! I get a big part of my inspiration from my environment. For me the environment is a crucial experience, thereby it is not important whether the environment is the work of man or the work of nature. The slideshows below give some of my impressions from the journey. They will be updated continuously.
