Born in Sassari
in 1970, he studied from 1984 to 1987 with
specialisation in classical studies (violoncello, composition and the
piano), from 1987 to 1999 he belonged to the big bang jazz
Orch estra
Jazz della Sardegna and
collaborated with various
musicians and directors such as: Giorgio
Gaslini, Bruno Tommaso,
Paolo Fresu, Antonello Salis, Richard Galliano,
Giancarlo Gazzani, Maria Pia De Vito, Maurizio Giammarco, Flavio Boltro
and Giovanni Amato ; with this
same group he played in
numerous International Festivals : Ferrara

and recorded a CD "Scrivere in Jazz" ( Flex Records 1996). For four
years he attended specialisation seminars at “Nuoro
Jazz” directed by trumpet player Paolo Fresu, and by
obtaining a scholarship he was able to play an original piece put
together by the "Orchestra delle Marche di Jazz". In 1993 he was
selected to represent in Siena the “Orchestra Nazionale
Giovanile di Jazz" (E.C. education course) obtaining the professional
qualification
of “ Jazz
Composer and Arranger ”
under the guidance of
Maestros Bruno
Tommaso, Giancarlo Gazzani and
musicologist Marcello
Piras .
In 1994 he worked as assistant to Maestro G.
Gazzani for the arrangement and composition course at the national
seminars held at “ Siena Jazz ”.
In 1995 he recorded
( CD "Mano" Mediterranearc 1995) for
Mano. In 1996 one of his original
pieces from the “Scrusciuscatalasciu Quintet” group
was recorded and won the “Posada Jazz Project '95”
competition (CD "Burrumballad" - Splasc(h) Records 1996). In 1998 he
played in a seven strong group directed by Paolo Fresu, who worked in a
multi-media field and composed music for a musical project which
included the post-synchronisation of filmed pieces and of a slide
projection fairy-story for children. From 1999 to 2000 he moved to
Paris where he played in various French Jazz groups and collaborated
with a school and privately taught jazz and improvisation. In 2001 he
became part of the Sardinian "etno-jazz" musical group, called
"Mediterraneo", and they realised a theatrical musical piece with
original music based on the texts of Leonardo Sciascia. In the same
year he played with ensemble "Visioni Sonore" at Jazz Festival
"Uan -
Ciu - Free" di S.Teodoro (Nuoro) and
played in various
Sardinian clubs.
From 2001 to 2002 he moved to P ortugal (San
Miguel – Azores)
where he taught music at the San Miguel Music Academy and played in
various contexts including the international nonet which performed at
the Portuguese Festival of Classical Music:
“Temporada”. In 2003 he recorded a CD entitled
Visioni Sonore on which he composed and arranged the majority
of the musical tracks and carried out the role of mixer and audio
technician. In 2004 he appeared at the International Festival
“Time in Jazz” di Berchidda and in the
“VI Jazz Festival of Gerona” (Spain). From 2004 to
2007 he has taught the piano, electric bass, ensemble and propaedeutics
for the musical theory studies in various schools, both state run and
private
