Hannah is a debonair songstress of old fashioned glamour and bandleader of her own ensembles.
She is a classically trained singer and is in high demand with her Hannah Northedge Jazz ensembles that employ some of the most skilled jazz musicians in the UK .
She is a regular guest at the 606 Jazz Club in Chelsea with The Russ Henderson (MBE) Trio and holds residencies at The Piano Lounge in Epping, Booty's Riverside Jazz Bar in Limehouse, The Sandgate Hotel in Folkestone and Mackenzie's Cafe Bar in West Malling, Kent.
She made a very successful appearance at Greenwich Jazz Festival this year and has been invited back this year and has also been booked to play at Mill Hill and Harborough Jazz Club.
She has received record label interest from The Jazz radio station and she will be releasing an album of uniquely arranged standards and her own original compositions with a country jazz flavour in late 2008.
Hannah who grew up in Leicester and Australia started to sing jazz in her mid teens but then considered training as an opera singer and was offered a place at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
She considered jazz more seriously when friends commented that she had a definite "jazz sound" to her low set rich voice.
She was also drawn to glamorous films from the 1930s and 40s especially Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies and others that featured music by Gershwin, Porter and Berlin and these were to provide a lasting impression on her.
Ultimately she realised that jazz was her authentic and natural voice.
Hannah has been a guest singer with The Rat Pack Trio and Orchestra since early 2006. She continues to tour sold out theatres with them nationwide.
Hannah's powerful voice, musicality and talent for jazz repertoire leads to frequent requests to front other well known jazz outfits including 7 piece 1930s and 40s swing band Rockin' in Rhythm, Kind of Jazz function band, The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra, 78rpm and The Rob James Orchestra. She works with former BBC Big Band leader, composer and pianist Ronnie Smith, internationally renowned pianist Simon Wallace and Christian Vaughan and guitarists Shane Hill and Alex Steer.
Miss Northedge's particular penchant for donning authentic 1920s, 30s and 40s clothing with hairstyles to match when performing is why she is often sought after as a featured act for vintage and World War II events. She was recently booked for The Fabulous Forties weekend in Eastbourne.
SESSION SINGING
The Hannah Northedge Singers are a 15 member choir that Hannah founded and session fixed for major feature film The Oxford Murders starring Elijah Wood and John Hurt. Hannah directed the choir, sang and acted in the film on location at Trinity College Greenwich and The Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford. The Spanish composer Roque Banos (Sexy Beast, The Machinist) who plays a conductor in the film was so impressed with the choir's talent, enthusiasm and professionalism that Hannah won the contract to record part of his soundtrack First Disobedience at Abbey Road Studios in July 2007.
Hannah has also recorded at Sir George Martin's Air Studios in North London. She sang Beethoven's 9th "Choral" Symphony for the soundtrack to recently released major film Copying Beethoven starring Ed Harris.
Her other session singing includes work with Leicester based producer Leighton Morrell and London producers and songwriters including Jackie Chambers, lead guitarist in popular rock group Girlschool. She continues to record vocals for original tracks and backing tracks intended for use by solo artists.
POP, ROCK and SOUL SINGING
Hannah's vocal agility has led her to front top function bands Kind of Jazz, Six Til Midnite, Club Deluxe, Madison and Special Offer performing at weddings, corporate events, private parties and other international prestigious venues. With function band Wishful Thinking that she fronted with Graham Parker - renowned London guitarist and guitar maker, Hannah undertook cruise contracts for 2 years.

Tours have included visits to New York, Italy and France. Hannah found her role in this choir, widely reputed to be the best in the world, very rewarding and it improved her musicality and sight reading skills immensely. She is too in demand for bookings with her own jazz projects to be a member now.
OPERATIC AND CLASSICAL SINGING
Hannah has sung as a classical soloist at many prestigious venues including Trinity Church, New York and Birmingham Symphony Hall and has given many recitals.
Hannah has worked as an Operagram at many events. She will then "deliver" 2 or 3 songs to the unsuspecting recipient and read out any announcements that have been requested!
At weddings Hannah continues to be in demand to sing classical repertoire (Ave Maria, Voi Che Sapete, etc) during the ceremony and then is frequently booked to sing with her jazz bands during the drinks receptions or dinner!
