TomekLipinski&Tilters are the descendants of TILT, Polish non-punk punk band. It was started in 1979 in Warsaw by TomekLipinski (guitars and vocals), Jacek Lenartowicz aka Luter (lyrics & drums, he moved from Gdansk to Warsaw after being expelled from school; in Gdansk he drummed for DEADLOCK) and Tomek Szczecinski aka Rastaman or Rastek (bass), later joined by Pyza (kbd). TILT was active between autumn '79 and late autumn '80. Then Luter and Pyza left for Berlin. Luter soon moved to Amsterdam where he found his new home and wehere he died of cancer two years ago.
Next incarnation of TILT was born in 1983. In the meantime Tomek and Robert Brylewski established BRYGADA KRYZYS whose existence was terminated by the martial law of late 1981, later reactivated in 1991 and again in 2003). That time it was Tomek Lipinski, Rastek (soon replaced by Franz Dreadhunter and Gogo Szulc (drums, formerly in TZN XENNA), later joined by Alek Korecki (top Polish jazz saxophonist). Soon the band started to feel limitations of 1984 Polish punk scene: too much alcohol, too little fun, and split. 1983 TILT had a single out with three songs: "Runal juz ostatni mur", "O jaki dziwny dziwny dziwny" and "Kazdy sie boi swojej paranoi".
1985. TILT was then a completely new concept. For many it was a betrayal of punk, and it was indeed, but TILT had never been a punk band really. Along with the changes came real hit songs, still airplayed today as evergreens (like "Rzeka milosci, morze radosci, ocean szczescia" or "Mowie ci ze"). This band split in 1986 after recording an LP album.
Next edition of TILT came up as Czad Kommando Tilt with Tomek, Gogo and Marcin Ciempiel (bass, formerly in Oddzial Zamkniety), and Jan Benedek (guitar). An album was released with hits like "Nie wierze politykom" or "Gdzie te serca".
Next incarnation was born in Sopot n. Gdansk, Northern Poland after Tomek had moved there from Warsaw. TILT '93 line-up was: Tomek, DzuDzu (bass, formerly Izrael), Loze (guitar) and Jacek Binasiewicz (drums). This lasted for 2 yrs. or so.
In 1996 TILT was reborn again and recorded a live album TILT2000/KONCERT W BUFFO, mostly unplugged, during a gig in Teatr Buffo, Warsaw, live broadcast on nation-wide radio and tv channels.
Next edition of TILT was a Krakow band with Tomek, Franz Dreadhunter, Tomek Czulak (dr) and LaLa (guitars, keyboard) in the beginning of the new millenium. This last TILT can be still heard on "EMOCJONALNY TERROR" - an album released in 2002.
TomekLipinski&Tilters are: Tomek, Piotr Leniewicz (bass) and Karol Ludew (drums) with Maciek Perczynski aka MaQ (operations manager). Currently the band is working on new songs, two of them already recorded and in the mixing stage: "NIE IDZ W TAMTA STRONE" and "SZESCDZIESIATY OSMY".
