The wind rages around the house and sends dead leaves flying through the darkness while Alexander Kaschte turns his back on the world aided by music. In a world where, for him and many other young outsiders, life holds nothing but rotten dreams and the daily perspective of a collapsing future, it is the music by DISSECTION, EMPEROR and DARKTHRONE which show Kaschte the escape from the darkness of his quarters into other worlds. Inspired by the frenetic ovations of the BLIND GUARDIAN fans on the “Tokyo Tales” Live-Album, the earphones pressed into his head, goose-bumps seize his body – and inevitably a repeating thought penetrates his mind. “This is what I have always wanted. Just never give up. Never give up”, and the decision to found the band is made.
Not sweet orchestra music or minimalist electro helped the often controversially discussed band SAMSAS TRAUM into being – rather it was the former heroes of the Metal Scene and the Black Metal Underground who gave the decisive impulse for the band’s foundation in 1996. The first contract followed three years later, and this is how the history of the king of beetles began – headed straight for success. Kaschte’s capturing temper has ever since received different reactions and the number of his committed fans has been growing continuously, gathering like an army at the feet of their lord. A tour with ATROCITY and PAIN lead SAMSAS TRAUM through Europe, the atmospheric records turned out to be bestsellers, and thus the group made their unhindered way up into the highest ranks of German Gothic. The status of the band is underlined by the euphorically celebrated appearances at the Wave Gotik Treffen, M’era Luna and Amphi Festival as well as several title stories in top magazines such as Orkus. But the trip into fairy-like worlds full of black romance and passionate craving for death is supposed to have come to an end. By producing five extraordinary records, SAMSAS TRAUM have compiled the knowledge and self-assertion, even through musical detours, to deliver finally, more than a decade after their creation, the album “Heiliges Herz – Das Schwert Deiner Sonne”, an album which Kaschte had been dreaming of since the beginning.
In 2007 SAMSAS TRAUM return to their roots and easily create a completely new form of Black Metal – aggressive and uncompromising. The angry and screeching singing by Kaschte seems almost liberating, as if it had been waiting for eternities to burst from the lungs of the notorious misanthrope. The eleven master pieces on “Heiliges Herz – Das Schwert Deiner Sonne” present a sharp cut between past and future of the formation and they blare with German lyrics inspired by nihilism on a top lyrical level. The monotonous Black Metal plight “Der Tag stummer Rache” is a really successful homage to the legendary “Transilvanian Hunger” by DARKTHRONE. But not enough: The overlong song “Das Zeitalter der Bäume” sticks out by a rare Black Metal relic: a sample of the interview of Alexander with Jon Nödtveidt opens the glistening epic and thus forms the worthy frame for the massive but altogether plausible Metal debut. Tracks such as “Durch springende Lippen” and “Schlaf in den Flammen” exercise a hypnotic suction and nest as a secret catchy tune in the ears of the listeners. The dark ballad “Liebeslied” and the title song, freshened by guest vocal Diana Lueger, present the calmer but emotionally nevertheless important moment of the record.
For the perfect realisation of his ideas, Kaschte spared neither trouble nor expense and worked only with the greatest artists of the scene. Therefore the brilliant drum salvos on “Heiliges Herz – Das Schwert Deiner Sonne” are played by no one lesser than Adrian Erlandsson, founding member of AT THE GATES and ex-drummer of CRADLE OF FILTH. To ensure the real Nordic sound, Kaschte travel to Sweden to realize the end mix at the Studio Fredman where Fredrik Nordström showed him savage magic at the control board. For the mastering he went on to Stockholm where Peter In De Betou (WATAIN, UNLEASHED, MARDUK, DARK TRANQUILITY, KATATONIA) put the finishing touches to the grand epic of guitar runs and catchy tunes.
The remixes of Peter Tägtgren (PAIN), Wumpscut and Monozelle as well as SAMSAS TRAUM’s contributions to the SAW II and SAW III soundtracks on the attached bonus-CD are real killers and finish off the opulent release with a versatile and atmospheric touch.
“Heiliges Herz – Das Schwert Deiner Sonne” is released on the 2nd of november 2007 as a limited collector’s edition, bound in linen as an oversized book with a 44-page-booklet, poignantly illustrated by Lithuanian artist Nathalie Shau.

SAMSAS TRAUM BIOGRAPHIE DEZEMBER 2007
Eine kuriose Erscheinung wie SAMSAS TRAUM zu beschreiben ist nicht einfach, hat die Band doch in ihrer mittlerweile 11jährigen Karriere eine stetig wachsende Anhängerschar mittels ihrer kontrovers diskutierten Musik und ihrer polarisierenden Standpunkte so sehr unterhalten wie provoziert. Die Gruppe gilt zu Recht als eine der bemerkenswertesten Formationen der internationalen Gothic- und Black Metal-Szene. 1996 als Soloprojekt von Alexander Kaschte gegründet, erregten SAMSAS TRAUM schnell mit ihren Demos Aufsehen - aus dem 1999 mit TRISOL abgeschlossenen Plattenvertrag resultierten die Alben "Die Liebe Gottes", "Oh Luna Mein" und "Utopia", auf denen die Band ihren unverkennbaren Stil entwickelte und in Folge nicht selten in Konflikt mit der Musikpresse geriet. Im Jahr 2000 tourten SAMSAS TRAUM im Vorprogramm von ATROCITY und PAIN und spielten etliche Konzerte.
Nach einer zweijährigen Kreativpause meldete sich Kaschte 2003 mit der Gothic-Oper "Tineoidea oder: Die Folgen einer Nacht" zurück. Das Album vereinte Gaststars wie Chris Pohl, Constance Rudert (BLUTENGEL), Dirk Riegert (JANUS) und Susanne Stierle (OPHELIA'S DREAM) mit der für SAMSAS TRAUM typischen Mischung aus Metal, Industrial und Neoklassik. "Tineoidea..." brachte der Band den Platz des Toursupports für L'ÂME IMMORTELLE ein. Explodierende Verkaufszahlen erarbeiteten sich SAMSAS TRAUM aber erst mit ihrem 2004 erschienenen Doppelalbum "a.Ura und das Schnecken.Haus", das deutlich orchestralere Töne als die Vorgängerwerke anschlug. Auf die Veröffentlichung des fünften Studioalbums folgte die erste Headliner-Tour, welche die Band zwei Wochen durch deutsche Clubs führte und eindrucksvoll unter Beweis stellen ließ, dass sich SAMSAS TRAUM auch im Live-Sektor zu einer ernstzunehmenden Größe entwickelt hatten.
SAMSAS TRAUM spielten kontinuierlich gut besuchte Konzerte und brachten Ende 2005 neben der 4fach CD/DVD-Box "Einer gegen Alle" auch die lang erwarteten Wiederveröffentlichungen ihrer ersten Alben heraus, die durch eine Vertriebs-Insolvenz vom Markt geschluckt worden waren. Die vielen hinzugewonnenen Fans sorgten dafür, dass die Erstauflagen der Rereleases in kürzester Zeit ausverkauft waren. Eine Konzertreise mit Oomph!, weitere Headliner-Touren und Shows auf den M’era Luna, Amphi- und WGT-Festivals versüßten der einer neuen Veröffentlichung Kaschtes harrenden Käferarmee die lange Wartezeit auf das nächste Album.
2007 kehren SAMSAS TRAUM mit „Heiliges Herz“ zu ihren Wurzeln zurück und präsentieren sich aggressiv und kompromisslos. Der Silberling schneidet mit scharfen Messern eine Kluft zwischen die Vergangenheit und die Zukunft der Formation und glänzt mit vor Nihilismus triefenden, deutschsprachigen Songtexten, schwarzmetallischen Gelöbnissen, überlangen Nackenbrechern und dunklen Balladen. Für die perfekte Umsetzung seiner Vorstellung hat Kaschte erneut auf Szenegrößen zurückgegriffen: so stammt das erbarmungslose Schlagzeugmassaker auf „Heiliges Herz“ von niemand Geringerem als Adrian Erlandsson, Gründungsmitglied von AT THE GATES und vormals Prügelknabe bei CRADLE OF FILTH. Der perfekte Mix von Fredrik Nordström/Studio Fredman (DIMMU BORGIR, IN FLAMES, OPETH…) und das ultralaute Mastering von Peter In De Betou (WATAIN, UNLEASHED, MARDUK, DARK TRANQUILITY, KATATONIA) verliehen dem brachialen Feuerwerk aus Gitarrenwänden und Ohrwurmmelodien den letzten Schliff. Parallel zu „Heiliges Herz“ veröffentlichte Kaschte „Wenn schwarzer Regen“, ein atmosphärisch dichtes Akustik-Album, dessen Songs es ebenso wie die Stücke von „Heiliges Herz“ kaum erwarten können, 2008 live dargeboten zu werden.
