As stated on his 2005 breakthrough debut single, “The Future Is Me”, TUGUN CANNON is truly "haunted by every hot emcee" before him. TUGUN CANNON has been a moving force since his christening into hip hop at 16 when he recorded and wrote songs with artist The Game. In 2005, one of the tracks from his Game collaboration, "We Ride", became a huge hit and the driving underground force of Cannon’s debut CD “Growing Pains: Chapter 3”. The debut single, "The Future Is Me", from the debut album, was hot on the airwaves at the time (with only street promotion and word of mouth). However, it was his hardcore duet with artist The Game, on the track "We Ride" that the streets ate up, ultimately catapulting Cannon to iconic status. Cannon recorded the track when he was 17 years old. The commercial success of the CD was just as immense when another single took off and earned Cannon heavy rotation on local radio, without one ounce of corporate backing. His second CD release, "The Muscle: Chapter 2", dropped in February 2007 in Las Vegas during NBA All-Star weekend, and is a reflection of his expansion and development. He dropped the boyscout from his name for The Muscle album to reflect a more mature mindstate. His buzz has sounded off on all coasts--going hard on his street promotion from the East to the West, and all in between. The south and west admire him, while his presence in the heartland and midwest is almost cult-like. In the east, industry major labels are still trying to reel in Cannon, but he likes the independent route--he's a people person and can express himself within his own creative control.He was getting the spins of a national act on a major label. That notoriety secured him the slot as the winner of that year’s Pepsi Smash, a national talent search that breaks new artsists. No reward was more special than the confirmation from voting fans that Cannon was basically viewed as the hottest upcoming artist in the city, and soon the region. The motivation inspired him to write, produce, manufacture, promote and distribute his second CD, “The Muscle: Chapter 2”. His aspirations were so high at that point he headed out West to expand his audience and released that sophomore CD in February 2007. It caught on at the NBA All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas and in spring 2007 “The Muscle: Chapter2” began surfacing all over hip hop communities west of The Mississippi River. In Vegas his buzz was so intense he founded his west coast headquarters, GOOD LIFE, LLC, and wrote his third CD, the “TUGUN IN VEGAS” mixtape, to be released this fall. It was there where TUGUN CANNON took his final step to the first step of national commercial success. The club savvy, sexy, street wise single, “Pop A Bottle”, from the 2007 CD, “The Muscle”, got the attention of the reputable Chicago-based label, MATHAUS ENTERTAINMENT. It also got the attention of a lot of other execs because a bidding war for signing Cannon was the industry buzz. His street and cyber presence resulted in a combination that made TUGUN CANNON one of the industry’s new most wanted. TUGUN CANNON is not just an act or name….not just a rapper or artist….TUGUN CANNON is the evolution of the solution to a musical cultural revolution. Under his new major-independent label, the well connected MATHAUS ENTERTAINMENT (out of Chicago), Cannon plans to release the best album of his career so far--CHAPTER ONE.
