Bozena Griner was born in Mostar, former Yugoslavia, today Bosnia and Herzegovina. She graduated from Music Academy in Sarajevo in 1960, studying with Matusya Bloom. As a pianist of an extraordinary gift she was actively performing at Music Festivals throughout Yugoslavia, as soloist and chamber musician. Her talent and brilliant virtuosity was spotted by a legendary Russian pedagogue Heinrich Neuhaus (both Richter and Gilels were his pupils) ,with whom she was mastering her craft as his student in Moscow Conservatoire from 1961 to 1964, where she gained her Master`s Degree. From 1965 she lives and performs in Belgrade. During her longtime career as a professor at distinguished Music School "Mokraniatz" in Belgrade, she cultivated a whole constellation of young players, including her son Dorian Griner, Veronika Koprivica, Aleksandar Filic, Sonja Madic, Ana Nedeljkovic. Her vast knowledge and experience is generously shared with many Yugoslav pianists, spanning all generations. At present she is actively teaching.
