“Our aim should be not to divide, but to bring music together. Many musical ideas can make a stronger one. And the result might be something innovative. So I thought of a special term: Reverse Split. A reverse stock split is a reduction in number of shares and an accompanying increase in the share price. How do you find it guys?†Notis made his suggestion. Trying to find a name for their band, the four friends from Athens agreed. That name was the proper one to describe their artistic target, the variety of their influences and their effort to create a modern perspective trying to combine many music styles under their own - unique - music and sound style.
Athens, Summer 2006. Two close friends, Dimitris Kapetanas (founder, former vocalist and guitarist of the popular school band “Spellboundâ€) and Notis Liakopoulos (founding member and bass player of “Theâ€) were discussing, while playing with their acoustic guitars. “It’s worthy to try... We have to express our ideas. That’s the essence if you want to say you’re an artist! Otherwise just keep your feelings inside youâ€. “Ok, I’m in!â€, Dimitris said. The story had just begun.
Three months later, their common friend and former drummer of “Boozebirdsâ€, Dimitris Xekalakis, joins the group. All of them were about to start practicing and working - and above all having fun - when George Stergiopoulos, a talented musician playing piano and flute, entered the Reverse Split world. There was undoubtedly a need for the addition of keyboard- and electronic sound in their musical expression; and they were lucky to find the right person in the right time.
Of course it is not possible to write down all of the band’s music influences, but here are some: From classic rock, hard rock and progressive rock to poser, heavy metal and power metal and from punk and hardcore to brit pop and funk.
Reverse Split’s first live performance was in Lazy Rock Club in Athens, in March 2007. Since then they have produced one DEMO CD (June 2007), including their first 4 songs.
All 11 songs that will compose Reverse Split’s first full-length album will be practically recorded until Summer 2008. In February 2008 Reverse Split was chosen to be one of the bands that will take part in the "Kiss Tribute CD'' (organised by official KISS ARMY GREECE), covering “Who Wants To Be Lonelyâ€. The CD will be promoted by Rock Hard-- (Greece), together with the magazine, which will contain a special tribute to this great band.
All they have to do now is to keep it real. And - no need to say - continue to Rock’n’Roll!!!
